I am trying to install the Fisher-Price Digital Arts and crafts studio and I am getting a message: The Video Adapter Device Driver is not properly installed or is not compatible with your computer.
Please Help. I am not a computer whiz, so a step by step explanation is greatly appreciated. I run Windows vista, and my computer is 3 months old.

I actually experienced the same problems on the 2 machines that I installed the software..But, something much worse occured...After trying this on both machines, each machine has had a hard-drive failure and I had to re-install the operating system...
Has anyone else experienced this problem..? This is rediculous..My 6 year oldf wanted to use this present from Christmas, but it has only caused problems.

Having the same problem despite the fact that my computer definitely does have the requisite video memory (64 Mb). Any tips?

I am having similar issues. The install goes fine, all the hardware checks out, but when the button is pushed to turn it on I get "Digital Arts and Crafts Studio has experienced an issue and needs to close" nothing else. Not even sure where to begin to look for this "issue" to fix it.
I have checked all the video settings, run DXDIAG. Can't find anything wrong.

Everything then works, until, the paint bucket button is pressed and it then
either freezes completely or freezes for a second and then carries on without having done anything.
Any ieas ???

had the same problem where an error box popped up at system startup saying that the DACSMiniapp.exe had an error. wasted an entire day on it but finally got it to work. the DACS software apparently needs Windows .NET framework 2.0 to run, but it will fail like this if it finds .NET framework 1.1 installed on the machine too. I had another program (Norton Ghost 9,0) that needed .NET 1.1 to be installed, so what I did is I hid the .NET 1.1 directory by renaming it. Now both the Fisher-Price and the Norton seem to be happy.
I renamed:
c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 to ZZv1.1.4322
and I renamed:
c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705 to ZZv1.0.3705
then I rebooted.

Can't find the options.ini file? I had trouble with this too. When you look on the cd it is not listed. However, if you run a different utitlity, like a cd burner and ask to look at files to burn (but not really burn them), all of the files will be showed from the cd, including the options.ini file. Then, instead of actually burning a cd, you can highlight all the files and copy them to your harddrive. This will allow you to update the options.ini file. Hope this helps! I was going crazy trying to get around the video memory problem and it took me several hours on Christmas day to find this file.

I have Vista Home Premium, 958MB RAM, with DirectX 10 enabled. Meet all the minimum requirements for Digital Arts & Crafts Studio, but I keep getting the same problems, despite returning the product for a new one and reinstalling the software 2-3 times. The stylus freezes after a few minutes of use. What a shame b/c it looks like it has a lot of potential and my 7 year old artistic daughter is dying to play with it....

I have the same problem with the DACS. I am running:
Windows Vista Ultimate w/ All Current Updates and DX 10
Pentium 4 Dual Core @ 2.8 Gz
4 GB DDR2
AGP GeForce4 MX 440 AGP dual VGA-out 64 mb RAMDAC
This product is absolute junk... just goes to show you that maybe FP should stick to making Cabbage-Patch dolls and not foray into electronics land.
Update: while (previously) writing this, I had IDA-Pro debug the software initialization. DACS crashed IDA pro and caused a BSOD on my system because the DACS software had attempted to overwrite kernel-space memory (or so IDA indicated on reboot)

Still cant get it to install!! Have phoned many times and they've sent me emails for graphics card driver updates but still no luck. When I reach the stage where it tries to locate the digitalarts and craft studio it tried 10 times before telling me to try again and then phone the customer support. I have tired all usb ports and it is not connected through a usb hub.
Anyone got any info on how to get it working? Customer support doesnt seem to have a clue!!!

I have the same problem as Evilwayne and I have attempted several repairs. I have delt with the active X controls, re-installed the program, tried to update it online (will not work) etc. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 32bit. If there is anything you can do to help please do. I have a three year old girl that is dying to play this.

I have also had this problem, again leading to a very disappointed 7 year old this christmas. I changed down the resoulution on our computer to the figures given on the box, disrupting everything else we normally use on screen only to find that although it now loads and works temporarily it then freezes the whole computer during use.

My problem is not exactly similar, but it concerns the same program
(Fischer Price Digital A&C Studio). I got it to install, but the
MiniApp crashes whenever the computer boots, or I try to launch it.
I get a pop-up that reads:
-----------------------
DASCMiniApp.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x748(1864). Thread id=0x6a0(1696).
-----------------------
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the program. I've repaired both the .NET framework and DirectX.
When I run dxdiag, the diagnostic crashes when it gets to DirectInput.
So I started pulling everything attached via USB and when I pull the
Studio tablet, the diagnostic no longer crashes.
So, any ideas?
Is this two different problems?
1. The software generating an exception and then tanking.
2. The Studio tablet crashing DirectX diagnostic.
Or are they both connected?
This is awful, my son really wants to play with it. He sees me using my
wacom tablet all the time. (Could there be an issue with having that
installed *and* this?).
Thanks for any help.

JUNK. Will not install, says video adapter driver is not properly intalled or not compatible. Fisher Price suggested I call Compaq to walk me thru re-installing video driver, which I did. Still will not go after reinstalling. plenty of memory remaining--128 MB. ((The disc says Version 1.0.0-for use with Windows 2000 and XP. I have vista but the tech at Fisher Price ASSURES me that it IS vista compatible even though there is no mention of vista on the disc.)) We tried a bunch of stuff, nothing works. She will forward the problem to her 'other techs' and if I haven't heard anything in 72+ hours I will need to call back....Unbelievable. I will return it ASAP.

I am also having a problem with this. Mine installs and works fine for a little bit and then the stylus freezes up. You can still hear the arts studio talking. I have to ctl, alt, delete to start again. Then after a few more rounds of this it completely will not work and then when I reboot my computer I get the debugging error. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled two or three times and this process still keeps happinging. I called Fisher Price this am and we uninstalled and reinstalled with them. THey said that it must be because I am using windows vista and something isn't jiving!! I am very frustrated and so is my 6 yr old!!

I am also having the video memory problem... "This computer does not have enough Video Memory to run the Digital Arts and Crafts Studio. A minimum of 64 MB is required." I copied the contents of the CD onto my hard drive, but there is no Options.ini file. Just a DirectX folder, AutoRun and setup, all contained within a folder called M1854 1.0.0 (D). Options.ini is not found inside the DirectX folder.
