Of course, providing you have sufficient rights on your computer. Go to network connection. click on the wireless adapter. go to advance settings and refresh the wireless list. I can pick up a linksys access point, but it will not let me connect to the internet. I do not have the original set up disk.

Do you own the access point?
If not, are you authorized to use it?
Access Points can be configured to _only_ grant Internet access to _specific_ wireless adapters.
(Each wireless adapter has a unique 12-character code.) So, if your code is not on its "accept" list, you won't be able to connect.

I can connect to the access point but it will not let me connect to the internet.

Do you own the access point?
If so, after connecting/authenticating to it, start Internet Explorer, and access the web-server "inside" the access point. Click to select the 'WAN' settings, and confirm that the access point is getting an IP-address from the Internet.

Netgear was working now all it does is scann

Your Netgear adapter is scanning because it cannot find a wireless access point.

Make sure that the adapter is visable and not hidden behind your desk. The less objects between your wireless adapter and your wireless access point the better.

Locate your wireless access point. Make sure it is on and unobstructed.

If you don't have an access point then you are using someone else's access point. You need to go find them and find out why you cannnot connect to their access point.

Good luck!

If this helps please vote for my solution.

My wire less is not connecting, tried to hit

Hello,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

Then go to "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

(In case you don't know how to uninstall the Adapter, Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties, Device Manager, then select the Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall.)

Hope this helps.

Add device to my network

You may be able to log into the access point from a wireless connection, or set your computer to a 192.168.2.x (maybe 10 or higher) and turn off the DHCP of the AP, then change the DHCP of the AP to something fixed in your 192.168.1.x address range like 192.168.1.251 or similar.

Now, plug in the AP to the WGR. It can now be accessed via 192.168.1.251 or whatever you gave it, and it will let the Netgear WGR give out 192.168.1.x addresses through the WAP.

Please provide feedback and let me know if it worked for you. In your spare time, be sure to password protect the WAP away from the default password. Post back if you have any problems and please provide the name of the Access Point so I have an idea what you used. We use TP Links here.

Belkin Notebook card and its wireless access point

Hello,

In Ideal scenarios, you should just plug in the card in the notebook and it should get installed automatically.

Thanyou may scan for the available networks and you should be able to seethe network of your Netgear router(Assuming that the Netgear you havementioned is wireless capable and configured).

You can connect to the network and it should work fine.
