Question about Maytag CWE5800A Electric Double Oven

F1 error code for Maytag CWE5800ACB

I am getting an error code F1 when turning this oven on. Can you identify what this code is for? I was told it was the Clock dial pad/electric control panel- are these 2 items the same? Is this something I can replace on my own if I'm somewhat handy? How would I access the area that this part is located in?

I was able to confirm that for Maytag CWE5800ACB wall oven- the F1 code is for clock/ECR malfunction (both items are one and the same). I ordered the part through an online vendor and received it in 2 days. I thought I would attempt to install the component myself in order to try to save some money, and I was successful. It took about 10 minutes to open the electric control panel and replace this piece. Thank you everyone for posting your comments. angstuart

I have the same error code, f1 on my Magtag, but it is not a double oven. It is a self cleaning oven. I tried using the self cleaning part, but it only cleaned for 2 hrs & it usually takes 3 hrs. Now the oven won't work, broiler or baking part. That f1 message is lit up. What it wrong?

GE model # jkp27 error code F1 what should I do?

Hi ssantillo,

Usually F1 error code means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be cancelled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Maytag electric oven model cwe5800acb. The lower element in the upper oven will not heat up. Can the lower element be replaced without removing the oven from the wall.

Yes, replace the lower element by first turning off the circuit breaker to the oven (110V is still to half of the 220V element circuit even though the oven setting is turned off), then unscrew the two screws holding the element to the back wall of the oven, then pull the element out (may have to tug it a bit to get the connectors through the insulation), and pull the wire connector clips off the element.

F1 error code

F1 touch pad / ERC test
This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range
Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is
present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC
as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace
the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable
performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance
repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range
power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is
very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please
double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control
panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch)
ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else
that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel
back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one
hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping
sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the
touch pad.
