Odds are you have an "Aqua Luminator" or "Johnny Light" style light that has replaced your factory style return or discharge on above ground pool. It usually contains two lens, bulb with fixture and step down transformer/switch. These lights usually contain a fountain attachment that makes circulation even worse. If it is this style of light you have a couple of options.

1. Rotate the housing 90deg (from top to side) so that the slotted discharge is pushing the water into the pool in a direction that helps circulation. Be careful to rotate only the outside housing. You do not want to twist the liner into the return/light fixture. Usually you will have to loosen or remove the light bulb prior to doing so.
2. If you want to remove the light and discharge, unplug the transformer/power. Unscrew and remove the lock nut on the outside of the pool that holds the bulb in. Once removed the bulb is connected with two terminals these simply pull apart. Once removed the discharge will push water into the pool without direction. This will help prevent algae build up from poor circulation.
If you want to remove the light fixture once and for all, drain the water level below the discharge port. Once the bulb and slotted cover is removed you will see a flange inside the pool. The flange inside the pool will have 4 tabs, simply grasp and turn counter clockwise. This will remove it from the casing and you will be able to replace it with a standard directional return or discharge. Bear in mind certain pools have different size gaskets and parts, so it is best to know this information prior.

Too much sand or wrong type of sand in the tank are two possibilities; should tell you on the side of the label how much sand to put in but generally it fills to about half way up the tank body.

Are you getting sand back in the pool at all? If not it is unlikely the sand is the issue since too small a grain would pass thru the laterals and get to the pool.

Have you used any clarifiers in the water? Over-dosing with a clarifier can literally turn the top of the sand bed into mortar impeding the flow of water.

In the automatic pool cleaner is getting stuck, make sure you have proper water flow and that the wings and shoes aren't worn. The hose could be too short and there could be a steering failure. Check your gear box and check and clean your rear screen. If the cleaner is rising out of the pool, make sure that the head is not "floating" or holding water. Remove all air from the cleaner head. Stop all the air from entering the pool thru the return line. If you see fine bubbles, give the hose a good tug. Also, readjust your return lines so that they are not interfering with your operation.

My zodiac baracuda gets caught up in the corners of my pool constantly. What should I do?

If these pool cleaners are getting stuck on corners or other obstacles, try these solutions. Try using Pool Pulse to lower the flow. If you are getting too much flow, the cleaner will stay along the edges of the pool and in corners. You might also need to adjust hose weights. You can adjust your return flow lines in the pool. If they are directed toward the corners, try moving them down and center to direct the cleaner in the correct positions in the pool.

If you water flow back to the pool is slow, there are several things that you can try with these pool filters. First, make sure that there are not blockages or clogs in the return lines. Next, make sure that you filter grids are not dirty/have holes. It could be that you simply need to replace the grid material. Make sure that your impeller is not blocked. Finally, check to be sure that it is not a voltage problem.

The pool cleaner seems fine-no diaphram issues but I think someting must be down the line because of how slow it is-how do I reverse(blow out) what ever is there?

With these automatic pool cleaners, it is not likely going to be cause by something stuck in the line. First, check your water flow with your flow gauge and adjust if necessary. Your owners manual should show you how to do this. Let me know if you need a copy. If that is not the problem, check the throat of the cleaner for a blockage. It will not be in the hose, but very close to the mouth of the machine. Make sure your shoes and wings are working properly and are not worn, also.

High pressure, and heater noise

I am not sure if you have solved this issue, or not, but if the PSI on the gauge is high then the problem may not be the heater. When you have the system turned on, and the PSI is reading higher than normal, just the flow of water coming out your return lines. If the flow is normal, like when you clean your filter, then see if you have a way to re-route the water so it bypasses the heater. If the PSI on gauge drops, then the issue is in the heater.

If the flow of water is slower than normal, with the PSI reading high, then you have a blockage somewhere in the system. It could be something simple like removing debris from skimmer and pump backets, to time to backwash, or clean, the filter.

If the flow of water is really hard and fast, with the PSI high as well, then you have too much water going through the system and need to slow it down.

First thing to check is the removal of any winterizing plugs in the return lines. Sometimes plugs are fitted inside the lines in the pool making them not obvious. Secondly, check that any valves in return line are open. Many never lube type valve handles are oppositely positioned as compared to ball valves. If the multiport valve hasn't been tampered with, then there really is no other place to look. The flows everywhere but back to pool.
