My mom's TV used to work fine but somebody apparently hit the right sequence of numbers on the remote that turned everything upside down.
I've been able to fix almost everything but I cannot access any channels below 7 which is a big problem because the Cowboy games usually come on channel 4 and mom watches them all regardless of their suckability.
Anyway, it simply won't add those lower channels when I run auto set-up. In fact those channels won't come in at all. It's unwatchable.
Yes, they are checked.
Please help before I put my foot thru the screen in frustration.

TURN TV OFF, PRESS 'DISPLAY' ON REMOTE, THEN' VOLUME UP', THEN 'CHANNEL 5', THEN HIT 'POWER BOTTON', ALL IN THAT SEQUENCE, FAIRLY FAST.. THEN JUMP BUTTON( 3) TIMES, THEN CHANNEL 2( 9 )TIMES THAT SHOULD BRING UP LAMP HOURS
this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t
From GUEST: I found this solution in the manual and will perform this task again to see if I can get the tv will be re-recognized again. Give this a try, too.
Remote will not turn on or shut off the TV.
• You must program the converter box remote in order to control your TV power button.
• To program the remote control:
Determine if the TV is a model that can be controlled by the remote control. See "Controllable TV brands" on page 17 in the manual.
Turn on the TV.
While you press and hold TV POWER on the remote control, press CH ^ or CH v one or more times until the TV turns off. Each time you press one of these buttons, the remote control sends a manufacturer code (between 1 and 45) to the TV.
found the answer but it doesnt help.......i got the number to who makes RCA remote controls and called them and talked to tech support to see what i could do for this problem. According to them, some universal remotes are compatible with most tvs but sometimes the remote can only give you the basic functions (chan up/down, volume up/down, #'s, mute an so on.) i dont really understand why it wouldnt work for the input channel but i do know i have a lower end and low priced tv. so....just like everything else the more you pay...the better it is. I checked the remote on my other tv in the living room and everything works just fine, even the input button. Hope this helps...
I think your mom changed the DVD output setting. Using the remote, go to the Setup Menu, then select DVD Setup. Scroll down to the Alt Video Out option. It will either be set to "Component", S-Video, or "Off". It needs to be set to the type output you are using to go from your Go Video deck to your TV. If you are using an S-Video cable, then set it to "S-Video", if using Component cables (Red, Blue, and Green cables), then set to "Component". Otherwise it should be set to "Off".
