Question about Canon CanoScan 8000F Flatbed Scanner

I get solid bright yellow and red bands down one side of a scan (with a Canon 8000F), and even on gray scale I'm now getting a similar area of solid gray - no image is scanned in these areas, I just get solid colour. You can edit them out of a saved image using cloning features but this is tedious, and shouldn't be necessary.

First, update the calibration data.

In ScanGear (scanner driver), perform Platen Calibration or Film Calibration on the Scanner tab of the Preferences dialog box. Calibration may take time depending on your computer.

You may also have a memory error and as such you can try scanning at a lower resolution or colour depth. If the problem persists then download and install the latest drivers from Canon Support at the following canon Support Link. After installation reboot the scanner and the PC and retry scanning.

Once completed make sure you update the calibration data.

If you still get the same results and if they are consistently in the same horizontal position of a scan then you may have a scanner head reader sensor assembly problem or a buffer memory problem which will need repair / replacement.

Try adjusting the contrast and brightness settings when you scan. If the contrast is set wrong it will pick up the shade of the white paper.

Hi there,

Scanning in gray scale alone will not bring down the scannned documents size alone. In your scan settings there should be a setting whereby you lower your DPI (dots per inch) or scan resolution. The standard DPI is usually about 300. Try lowering it to about 100 and check the scanned document size again. Lower your DPI until you reach the appropriate document size for emailing etc.

Savin 2545 document feeder gives a gray band on the copies


Yes - surprisingly - we had the same problem, the gray stripe along the side of the page only showed up when the original was fed through the document feeder on top. Cleaned the small area of glass under the feeder repeatedly with no change to the resulting stripe, but then while cleaning the upper roller, above the area of glass where the scan lamp illuminates during the copying from the ADF, we found a small piece of paper adhering to the top roller in the paper path, cleaned it off, and no more band. We didn't see the bit of paper on the upper roller until we rolled it while cleaning. Still can't figure how that made a stripe....but hope this helps you.

Aftermarket radio does not work


The wires in the radio are more likely:

RED : Main Battery Power
YELLOW : From Ignition Switch
BLACK; Ground
BLUE: Output for Accesory (Antenna o Amp)

Car;

Blue/Red: Main Battery Power
Pink/Black : From Ignition Switch
Yellow/Gray: Illumitation(Don't use)
Green/Black: Same

I may be able to email you a copy of the diagram (just to be safe...)

In the settings TAB you need to specify the Area OR BAND that you wanna cut and where you want your cropped image to be saved thats it .

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side


Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
