Question about Westinghouse L1975NW Monitor

1 Answer

The monitor is on and seems to be running, have visibility prob.

Yes, I just got a Westing house LCD Monitor L1975NW.
I plugged it in and the menu shows up, but I can't differentiate the menu items, as there is barely any light/contrast.
I can just see the outline.
How can I turn the "light" on, on it.
Thank you
George

George, I hope you got IT for free!! You too should find out all you can about LCD cold cathode fluorescent lamps and their electronic ballasts circuits which are called "INVERTERS" and obtain their dc voltage from the monitors "switch-mode-power-supply". If you can see an image on the screen even though it looks BLACK then you know that only half the SMPS is in SHUTDOWN mode. Why don't you try visiting YOUTUBE to search for LCD monitor Disassembly videos that are of the 8-12min long versions just FYI. also try vids of LCD repair and see if the symptoms are same as your's! Then get back to fixya and find out your options on what to do next. You may even tell us WHAT you're going to do!!! I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol. com hope this helps you out a little. please rate this response at fixya. Bye for now. louie nw of Chicago.

george, I still think that this is a backlight problem and will not be corrected thru any software controlled ADJUSTMENT of the unit's front panel controls. louie12fix

When i plug up the L1975NW lcd monitor what should show up ?

"no input" means that there is no signal from computer or the monitor cable is unplugged. When you first turn on monitor it usually does a self test and then looks for signal. Not connected to PC will give a no signal. If it is connected but PC is off (not unplugged) then it should go into standby as you vid card will be sending a standby signal to any monitor connected. Sometimes the Plug and Play monitors need to register before it will recognize a standby signal from PC, so plug it up and boot up PC. Then shutdown normally, your monitor should go into standby when the PC shuts down.

Dear Sivakumar,
please try to remove and plug VGA cable back again to the monitor. and press the menu button in front of monitor if it doesn't giving any message in monitor it means that the control card inside the monitor is faulty.for fixing that you have to contact your local service center.

Westinghouse 22 lcd monitor. I have a 1 inch black stripe vertically down the left side. The monitor adjustments and resolution settings do not correct the problem, Sort of like an old crt gun being out of...

This is an issue with the Inverter or wire that sends the signal from the inverter to the screen. This is typically a non-service issues and results in a new monitor. May recommend you contact westing house and see if the screen is under warranty.

I just got a westing house 26" hd monitor and i am having nothing but trouble i have a 1 gig ddr5 garghics card and it will not set to the 1900x 1200

Check the firmware version. Version 001 does not seem to support 1920x1200.

I can't find an option to update the TV firmware on the Westinghouse site; check your manual if this is available.

I wish that I could help.

Resistors burnt on power supply board on L1975NW lcd monitor looking for that power supply board

This monitor has common problem with caps went bad and it will take out the fure and MOSFET in the inverter circuit. Do you know which resistor is burnt out? I usually only have to replace the caps, MOSFET, and the fuse.

LCD Monitor turns blank after 1-2 seconds

Yes, this is a very common problem. Often times it is the inverter capacitors that wear down (they look like small batteries with a white stripe and are close to the transformers). If you can get in to the circuit boards, these capacitors are often visibly swollen on the tops; they are normally flat with an embossed X.

If you are going to replace the capacitors, pay very close attention to which way the stripe is; if you reverse this, the capacitor may explode.
