Question about Performance Teknique ICBM-771 Car Audio Amplifier

Open Question

The amp is not working, I replaced the fuses and still nothing. It turns on and it stay's on the green light but when you try to adjust the gain or what ever nothing happens. The sub doesn't even respond to what I am trying to do. At one point before it got to this I had to raise the gain more then half way to get the sub to work. Every thing is connected and I've had this amp since 06 and its has always worked fine. I've even tried readjusting the levels on my amp for the mains and if anything I made it worse :(

SOURCE: my amp has power the led is on but no sound

See what happens if you apply a temporary ground connection to the RCA input jacks ground connection while it is running. You might want to turn the volume down before you do this just in case it works.

SOURCE: sub amp not working anymore

sounds like a typical case of poor conections causing the amp to fail... take the cover off of the amp. Inspect where the terminal blocks meet the circuit board. SOmetimes you can repair it sometimes its just too far fried..

SOURCE: Performance Teknique wont work!!

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, do the following. I'll assume that you've checked the amplifier's on-board fuses.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired.

If you want to try to repair it yourself, read through the following page:

Sounds to me like the amp is going into protection mode. Try placing one sub on the amp with very little gain. One of the biggest reason why this happens is because the subwoofers are wired wrong. What is the brand and model number for your amp?

TV will not turn On

Call a good TV Tech and have him check for vented capacitors in the DM module or blown pico fuses on the -24 and the +24 volt lines. If fuses are blown,it indicates the convergence amp IC's are bad.The fuses solder into the board.

When I plug the radar in the green dot turns on for a second then turns off, nothings on afterwards... I used a new wire and fuse and nothing....what could be wrong?

Does the unit work in another vehicle? If not, first thing to check is the fuse in the power cord. The adapter (part that plugs into the lighter socket) has a replaceable 2 amp 3 AG fuse inside it. The end of the adapter, which has the silver tip, unscrews to gain access to the fuse. CAREFUL: Unscrew slowly! The tip contains a spring which may fly out when disassembling. With use, screw cap on plug may loosen. Retighten occasionally.

Hooked up to a kicker L712. Worked fine now its in protection mode. When i turn it on the light is green for a second then turns red. It wont stay green. What should i do? Is it the circuit board?

perhaps you are pushing the amp to hard check that the gain control knob is not turned all the way up. This will cause the amp to overheat. If not that check all of the wiring to the amp for a possible short.

Green light blinks slowly on my JL Audio 300/4 amp

Check your fuse at the battery. While AGU glass fuses "look" good, when you read the voltage AFTER the fuse, you can only be getting 5 volts or so. I can't tell you how many times I have seen this.

Jensen Amp and Sub

If you followed the instructions correctly, then the amp must be defective. This is sort of simple.

My generic suggestions:
You have the power, the ground, the outputs to the speakers, and then the input.

Make sure that none of the speaker wires are somehow being grounded. Make sure that nothing is shorted that feeds the speakers.

Overhaul light (red) stays on!

This is not a ovehaul light. It is called the protect indicator. It kicks in when the amp detects a fault on it's output. Disconnect the speaker / sub. Power up the amp and see if the light goes out. If it does you Sub is toast and needs to be replaced. If it stays on then the amp is done.
