Question about Lexmark Optra SC 1275 Laser Printer

3 Answers

Hello, I have a Lexmark SC-1275 with, from what I can see, a common error, 913 motor error. This occurs after printing about 10 sheets and won't stop occuring until it is powered down for a day or two. I had a Minolta EX, same engine, same problem and I see on the web that everyone seems to have the same problem. I am an HP Laser tech so I am sure I can resole this problem if you point me in the right direction. Hate to get rid of the printer as I have 100 or so cartridges & drums. Thanks Myles

This is a common problem that should not have a laudry list of solutions. A true expert will know exactly what the problem is.

PS As mentioned I am an HP laser tech, already tried different trays.

I have changed, cleaned and fixed the transfer roller both on this printer and on the previously mentioned Minolta EX. It always fixes the problem for 10 pages or so and then it returns. It (The problem) has nothing to do with the transfer roller.

Please folks, stop guessing, if the tech that has found this problem replies it would be greatly appreciated, if not, save me the time and trouble of dismissing your reply.

Try these steps:

  • clean the Image Transfer Roller sensor(PC2).
  • clean and adjust the Image Transfer Roller Position Solenoid(SL5).(Make sure the actuator is not binding and Sticky).
  • clean and lubricate the Image Transfer Roller Position Clutch.

If still not fixed your printer, you need to replace those parts.

According to service manual error 913 is transfer roller error .
First follow general solution on Lexmark knowledgebase. That is just a general checkup and often cannot fix the problem.

Try the following:
clean the Image Transfer Roller sensor.
Clean and test the Image Transfer Roller Position
Solenoid.
Clean the Image Transfer Roller Position Clutch, and ensure it is properly lubricated.
If you still get error 913, you will need to replace transfer roller assembly.

Well, it is not me guessing, it is the Lexmark service manual that I use to work that is guessing.
I guess that you will not need the schematics, as you already know what the problem is, and you have professionally tested the transfer unit without testing transfer roller sensor and TR position solenoid.

Since I am guessing, I will also guess that you are looking for an easy refund.

No problem, Fixya is very flexible.

Next time I suggest using our free question service.

    Goodbye, and good luck...I guess.

Hi
1.Power off the printer.
2.Remove all installed paper trays.
3.Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in each tray. If it is not, reload the paper into that tray.
4.Look up into the printer where the paper tray slides in and out. Check the feed (autocompensator) assembly for any damage.
5.If everything is fine, reinstall the tray and power on the printer.
6.Try printing a few print jobs.
7.If the error does not return, continue using the printer as before. Keep an eye on it for the next few days. If the error does not return, it may have been an isolated incident.
8.If the error returns just as soon as you power on the printer or when you try to print again, you will need to find out which paper tray/paper source is causing the problem.
•If the printer has only the one integrated paper tray, the problem will be with either the tray 1 pick arm/autocompensator assembly or the printer's engine/system board.
•If the printer has more than one paper tray installed, try printing from each paper tray one at a time. The best way to do this is to have all of the paper trays empty and then proceed as follows:
1.Put paper in tray 1 only.
2.Print from tray 1.
3.If tray 1 works fine, empty tray 1 and put paper in tray 2 and so on until you encounter the error message.
4.If you receive the error when printing from one particular tray, power off the printer to clear the error.
5.Power the printer back on.
6.Skip the faulty paper feed slot and move on to the next one (if another one is present). If you can print from all but one of the paper trays, this is the source of the problem.
If you have extra paper trays/drawer units installed and the error occurs from only one particular source, there are some things you can do as a temporary fix.
■If the error is occurring from an OPTIONAL paper drawer/source, power off the printer and remove the defective drawer from the printer. You will then need to set up the printer to print from a different tray. For information on removing an optional drawer, try the below link...
http://support.lexmark.com/index?userlocale=EN_US&locale=EN&page=content&segment=SUPPORT&productCode=OPTRA_SC_1275&id=HO347
■If the error is occurring from the integrated paper tray (tray 1) AND you have optional paper trays installed, take all of the paper out of tray 1 but leave tray 1 installed. Set up the printer to print from one of the other paper tray sources (tray 2, tray 3, multi-purpose feeder, etc.).
7.And if your getting the same error then you need to get it serviced
Hope you will be helpfull
Thanks for contacting Fixya.com

I have a lexmark optra sc 1275 I just downloaded the drivers and tried to print but it takes 3 minutes a page. What is wrong?

Probably nothing. This is a very slow 13 year old printer, claiming 7.5 pages per minute for black and .5 ppm for color. Make sure your settings are for black only to get the maximum speed. Even then, manufacturer claims are often high for print speeds, so 3 minutes a page, especially for color, is probably about right.

How i can solve the 913 service motor error lexmark sc1275 my printer?

913 Transfer Roller Error
The printer fails to completely transfer the image to the paper or does not transfer it at all.
The image transfer roll does not lift when paper is passing over it.
Suspect either the transfer roller solenoid or transfer roller motor malfunction.
The printer would have to be professionaly serviced by authorized service centre.

Lexmark Optra 1275sc - 900 Service - Software Error

I have the same problem, but the error only occurs when I try to print a .pdf file (Adobe Reader) using the "Lexmark Optra SC 1275 PS" driver. For some reason the PS driver didn't like .pdf files! My solution was to always print .pdf files using the alternative " Lexmark Optra SC 1275 (MS)" driver, which Lexmark also offers on its website.

the selected paper source holds
A4, letter, or legal size paper
and the Paper Type setting for
the source is Plain Paper.
2 Continue to press and release Menu> or <Menu until
you see TESTS MENU.
3 Press the Select button.
TESTS MENU is then displayed on the first line, and
Print Menus is on the second line.
4 Press Select again to print the page.

My problem with the Lexmark optra sc 1275

Lexmarks use a silicone oil cleaning pad on top of the fuser, try to locate a door on top towards the rear, take it out you might see a long black piece, when you take it out it has a felt on the bottom it is used to clean excess toner off the fuser it should be replaced everytime you change your toner ( usually comes w/the toner).
