Question about Kitchen Ranges

GE Stove Im trying to replace a Infinite Switch Dual, I ordered part # WB21X237 and received WB23M106 and was told that this is a generic part. Here's my problem. My original part has 5 connections listed as P, H1, H2, L1, L2 and the new one has 6 listed as P1 (dual conection) P2, 2, 4, 4a. I'm not sure were to put the 5 wires from my old switch to the 6 connections on the new switch. Can you please help me with this. The part did not come with schematics or instructions.

The model number is GRCR3820. No instruction were included. I was told that it is a generic switch.

I'll need a model number to determine what's going on and whether the part is really a generic. They should have given you some kind of installation instructions.

I'm sorry but that's not a good range model number. Check it again and let me know. Thanks

The part you were sold is not the right part. The generic part number is: AP2023630 for $26.33. which is

    Manufacturer's Number: WB21X5243 (WB21X237)
    made by GE.
The part you have won't work!

Again you need Switch, infinite part #AP2023630 By GE. Burner control switch, replaces many
older models. Has a break-away shaft and different shaft adapters. Fits
most electric ranges with coil type elements. It sells for about $26.00 to $27.00.

Which element is it? Try to switch the infinite switch from another element. This will tell you if it is the element or the switch problem.

My stove stays on warm with switches off. It is a GE stove, could the inside element have a short

If the burner remains on the problem will more than like be that specific burners infinite switch is bad and not breaking the flow of electricity when turned to off.

Hello. We have a Whirlpool Accubake range and we heard a pop and saw a spark under one of our 8" burners. What ever happened tripped the circut. After resetting the circut, the rest of the oven and...

I had a problem with my Whirlpool range. It would not regulate temperature properly on the two large 8" burners. I found the problem was the "infinite switch". The infinite switch regulates temperature of the electric stove elements.

I found this video (see youtube link below) informative and it solved my problem. I found the correct infinite switch on Amazon (my infinite switch was this $21.00 one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XLEJ7M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The fix to replace 2 infinite switches (both 8" burner switches) took me 1 hour, including cleaning the floor under the stove (nasty!). All was well afterward.

This is most certainly the infinite switch. If you pull the knob off for this eye, the shaft you see is part of that switch. You need to disconnect power to the appliance and replace it.

Replace your infinite switch for this (your lf burner switch). Call a parts supplier with your model number, try and get an exact switch, not a generic switch. Do not replace the switch without unpluggin your range first. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

This is becoming a common problem. If your dual burners are controlled by the burner switch only, then you need to replace your dual burner infinite switch. Some models have a seperate rocker switch that switches from small burner to both burners. If you have this style then this is usually your problem. Can also be from shorted wiring but this is very unlikely. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Tony, this sounds like you may need to have a new burner switch installed, it is called an infinite switch. If it is for the dual burner, make sure you tell the appliance parts store this so they can order you a dual infinite switch.

Try putting the element in another spot. If it does the same, then it is the problem. If it works fine, then you need to change the infinite switch.
