I recently found that my xbox couldn't connect to xbox live so I called the xbox support line (UK) yesterday and the support person took me through many steps to trying to get it to reconnect which...

I would like you to power cycle your network equipment, once more, as suggested up front and, also, clear the Xbox system cache 3 times in a row. Here we go!
Power off your network equipment (modem and router) for 5 minutes. Power on the modem and wait one minute for it to connect properly. Power on the router and wait another minute. Power on the Xbox and go to Xbox network settings. Select Configure Network and slide to the Additional Settings tab. Select Restore network settings to factory defaults. If wireless, reconfigure Xbox wireless settings. If wired, Press "B" on your controller and select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Clear Xbox system cache
  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
  4. Select Clear System Cache.
  5. Clear your Xbox system cache 3 times in row.

Restart your console.

Try download your profile from LIVE.

How do i setup xbox live

First you need to configure you wirless setup with the xbox by accsessing the menu on the xbox console. I dont know who you wirelss provider is or if you even have wireless so im going at this kinda blind. Setting it up can be kinda of trick but not impossible. It may ask you for a network identification code or a network key ect. You must have that in order to configure your xbox to your wireless network. After that it should be smooth sailing.. Now assuming your wirless configuration is a basic wirless router in your home you can also go out from it with an ethernet cable to the xbox but thats a last resort...anyways i hope i was of some help to ya.

How do i transfer my avertar and saved game data onto a usb stick on a xbox360

Ensure your Xbox 360 is equipped to handle your new USB driver. Microsoft urges USB driver users to upgrade their consoles to a spring 2010 version or better. Use Xbox Live, a flash drive or a CD burner to perform the firmware upgrade.

1. Configure your USB device after your console's upgrade is completed. With the console on and connected with a working television, plug the USB driver into an available USB port on your Xbox 360.
2. Use your controller to choose "My Xbox" then "System settings." Then choose "Memory."

3. Pick "USB Storage Device" from the "Storage Devices" menu. Choose "Configure now" to ready your device for its first download. Follow the remaining prompts to configure the driver.
4. Save individual game files to the USB driver by accessing the "Memory" folder.

Hope this informnation will be helpful. Thank you for using FIXYA.

Cant connect to others or friends due to NAT settings on forza motorsport 3

you need to forward ports on your router. alternatively many routers have upnp (universal plug and play) to automatically do this and the xbox supports this, but some routers come with upnp disabled by default. i would first go into your router/modem and search for a upnp setting and enable it. if this is not possible or does not work here are some sites to help you with the process of configuring your router.
here is a list of microsoft certified compatible routers, which likely means they have an effective UPNP implementation and have been tested to support multiple xbox's at once.
if you are using telco or cable equipment you may need to contact them or go to the router usually .1 or .254 on your nat range (ex. and see if you can get into it, often times its user pass admin/admin or admin/password or some such default, i would bet googling your equipment model will turn up a way to get into it.

E 68 error....will transfer cable help fix it?

The E68 is a weird error. Its normally from a hard drive failure. The underground xbox 360 scene says

THe E68 is a Hard Drive Error. The Hard drive is not properly configured: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.

If the xbox can play without the hard drive then this error can be caused by a problem with the fans that make them draw too much power, it can also be caused if you have unnecessary accessories attached to the console like an external fan unit. Attempt to remove unnecessary accessories first, and then necessary components such as the hard drive and USB devices.

If its the hard drive or your console causing the problems contact Microsoft they will probably fix your hard drive and maybe recover your game saves. On the newest games that info is stored on xbox live.

Ip address failed

In order to connect your XBOX 360 to your laptop (if the laptop is connected via dial-up), you'll need a cross-over ethernet cable. It's a special type of ethernet cable, which is typically the same price as a regular ethernet cable, but it allows two devices (in your case) to communicate with each other. Then, you'll need to configure your laptop to allow incoming connections via your Control Panel -> Internet Connections preferences.

Hope this help!
