Unit has a loud humming sound that changes in pitch as the unit runs

Could be a noisy compressor. The sound changes as the compressor cycles.

I have a new Delonghi portable AC PAC N115EC (11,500BTU), is it normal for the compressor in this particular A/C to be cycling on/off every 2 to 3 minutes?

If the room is cool, it sounds like the unit is operating correctly. It could be short cycling because the unit is over sized for the room being conditioned. if you can, increase to size of the load by opening a door into another room. As long as the refrigerant pressures equalize from high to low side internally and the compressor doesn't start up under load, you should be fine

Refrigerator noisy when running

It sounds like one of the shock absorbing boots on the compressor has gone bad. I would start there.

Compressor is noisy

You didn't mention how old the unit is. If your condenser is clean then you probably have a warped valve in the compressor. If the unit is cycling on and off and maintaining the proper temp check for vibrations.

Simpson 175 washing machine: spin cycle noisy and motor cuts out after short spin. Bowl feels stiff

Hi just read your posting. Now from the information on your posting the machine is noisy on spin and your motor is cutting out after a short spin.Is this correct? Now does the motor cut out during a wash cycle? If the motor only cuts out during the spin cycle , and with your machine being noisy on spin,I think the fault will be your bearings are corroded. With the bearings being corroded it puts more load on the motor causing the inbuilt thermal overload in the motor to activate and turning the motor off to save it from burning out. Please reply with additional information on, if it cuts out on wash and I am sure I can help you further.

If the defrost cycle was stuck on then the compressor would not be humming trying to start. You may have a shorted compressor. Especially if its a frigidaire they are known to have the worst compressors. You can use a meter to check your compressor windings. You can check for a short by scratching the paint off the compressor and checking from each terminal to the bare metal on the compressor. If you have continuity then its shorted. Also check continuity from each pair of pins on the compressor. Good Luck _MJ_

Compressor short cycling

If the condenser fan works , try replacing the compressor relay and overload (it;s the most common problem) but if the compressor still goes on and off , probably is burnt or jammed and has to be replaced.

Check the fan motor at the compressor for a foreign object in the blade or a out of balance blade.

Compressor short cycling

If the compressor is run off of a relay then you could install a delay timer to prevent short cycling.
