You need to tighten the coarse adjustment screws to provide more tension so it sticks. Leave the fine adjustment as it is, it works on a different system. It's the coarse adjustment crank that is slipping due to the weight of the stage and lack of pressure from the screws.

Turn the 2 coarse focus knobs in oposite directions. Do not turn to hard as it will break off the head of an internal screw, but it will add more compress to the focusing mechnism, thereby preventing it from falling. If you need a new one, you can buy it through Fisher. Just call them and ask for part number ZP-PV-000001. If they cannot find that part number in their system, have them call the vendor AMG

The tension dial on my 6212 keeps falling off, I'm not sure if I'm missing a part between the dial and the screw to keep it on? I'm also having serious problems changing the tension

If the tension dial knob is falling off, generally you would have difficulty adjusting the tension. I would suggest taking your machine for service.

Why does the mechanical stage for my microscope keep falling to the bottom-most position?

Maybe there is some wear at the thread where the stage fits, causing that the stage cannot hold.

I received a rack that holds the wine bottles upside down, does this effect the wine?

No, it is Ok keeping the wine this way. One ofthe most important things about keeping wine is to make sure the wine insidethe bottle is reaching the cork from inside keeping it moist, and that'sobviously happens when the bottle is maintained upside down.

Fisher CA-885 Integrated Stereo Amplifier stuck in stand-by mode

Given the heat/cold cycles of the storage area along with humidity, I would first suspect poor solder connections. This is not unusual for units of this age. A general overhaul should restore this to operation. This should be a labor only repair unless the output STK is bad. These units are known for having poor connections at the voltage regulators which cause a DC voltage offset triggering the protection circuit. The overhaul should address this as well.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Nikon Optiphot stage is falling

This might be sign of trouble, because the Nylon gears inside might be worn out. I did not noticed a tension ring on Optiphot 1 or 2. The Nikon S and Metaphot from 1960s to 1976 have Nylon gears with tension ring adjustments.
