Ok, that is a common problem among HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops.

The code represents video card failure and needs the north bridge to be rewired.

I had lost of problems with these laptops... usually their screen goes 100% blank, no error beep, no nothing. system loads (there is hdd activity) but there is nothing shown on the LCD and no signal on the VGA connector.

Check this out: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&docname=c01087194

does your laptop qualify? call them before it`s not too late! (warranty and post-warranty term not outdated)

I have a HP Pavilion dv6700 special/limited edition. I start it up, and all lights turn on and i can hear the computer is on. But the screen is black. And then I hear a beeping sound three times. First one...

Sounds like you have a memory problem. Either a RAM module is defective & needs to be replaced, or the slot where the RAM module goes into is not making good contact between the motherboard & the memory module, & needs to be cleaned.

Try first cleaning the RAM module slot with a non-oily contact cleaner. Leave it to dry for few minutes then install the RAM module & test if the computer will turn on. If it does not, replace the RAM module with a working one & test again.

Hp pavillion dv6000 wont boot, switching on all the lights and giving 3 beeps, what do i do

Three beeps ususal indicates a memory error.

If you have 2 ram modules in your system, remove one and try to start up. If this fails, replace the single stick with the other. If neither of them work and you still get the 3 beeps, it may be the motherboard that is damaged.

Got a hp dv6000 laptop that beeps one long then 2 short beeps on boot up - nothing on screen just black. any ideas?

This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card.

Laptop Beeps on start up 1 long and two short beeps

You've checked the memory board/card, but have you tried using another memory card? The 1 long followed by 2 short beeps indicates that there's a problem with the memory card. Try to remove the memory card, then wipe the gold traces with a dry cloth and put it back in.

If you try replacing the memory card but you get the same problem, then proceed with the video card.

One long beep, two shorter beeps - HP laptop will not start up

Hi...
I had the same problem...
The solution is only temporary and you will have to reapply it after around 5 to 6 boots cuz it'll just happen again (the beep syndrome).

Just heat up the laptop by turning it on and covering its air vents with your hands.

Then after you hear the beeps turn it off.
Turn the laptop on again and immediately turn it over upside down with the lid closed ofcoarse (simply put it on its back).Hopefully you wont hear the beeps and when you open up the laptop lcd...voila display.

HP Pavilion DV6000 1 long 2 short beeps on power up. No video

1 long, 2 short Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.

You may be able to get HP to repair it for you.

Good Luck.

HP Pavilion dv6000.When turn on,makes 1 long sound and 2 short and monitor stays dark, but after few trys switch off and switch on (somtimes more, sometimes less),starts work, but next time the same again...

One long beep and two short is usually an indication of issues with the RAM memmory. It could be indicating the RAM chips are bad, or you may have an intermittant short on the motherboard.
