Question about Dell Latitude D800 Notebook

1 Answer

My cd-rom will not open. What should I do?

My cd-rom will not open.

I have removed it entirely from the computer and put it back in. The computer recognized it being removed and being returned.

I disabled and then enabled in device manager.

there is no light on and it doesn't respond to the button being pushed or selecting 'eject' from my computer.

What should I do?

It sounds like the drive spring is bad. There's usually a small hole on the drive itself, you can stretch out a paper clip and stick the paper clip in the hole to see if it will release. If it releases, the drive's not picking up on the power being delivered by the system. See if you can swap it with another drive.

I have a cd I put in, but do not know how to remove it from my computer need help

1. Open the Computer window on your PC: Either double-click the Computer icon on the desktop, or open the Start menu and choose Computer.

2. Click the DVD drive icon: Clicking the icon selects that drive.

3. Right click on it and choose 'Eject' from the drop-down list.

OR
Try the following only if the above steps didn't work or in times of urgency, such as when the computer is locked up (or turned off), you can manually eject a disc/cd by pushing a straightened paper clip into the tiny hole (the "beauty mark") on the front of the DVD drive.

How do I open the tower to insert a c d

Open My Computer and then right click on the CD/DVD drive of your system that are define. For example: "E, or F, or G". Click on eject. or Press on the button CD/DVD-ROM. Mostly it's located in the right sight just below the CD/DVD-ROM "where the CD/DVD can insert". And if this two is not working than take a pin length around 2.5" and push inside the hole it's located in the right sight just below the CD/DVD-ROM. Hope it'll be helpful to you. All the Best!

Dude CD ROM's are designed to close all by themselves in case if there is anything stuck in between, just unplug the CD Rom,and u might find a small hole, kindly punch in it using a pin so that the front portion of cd rom will open and clean up the entire drive using a soft brush(b careful about lens present inside)and fix it back and check out whether it works out

Cd-rom/dvd-rom door won't open

Hi!This is not a big problem...All you have do is take a pin, needle or something and just insert it into the small hole near your cd-rom drive..try this repeatedly while pressing the eject button..If it doesn't work you will have to unscrew the two screws on the right of your keyboard..doing this will give you the access to the cd tray and you can remove the cd and put it back together..

My cd-rom

Hi, You should be able to get a paper clip, preferably one of the bigger ones and open it out so you have a straight section of wire, then at the fron of the CD drive you will find a very small hole. Carefully slip the wire into the hole as far as it will go then you will need to push against the manual release with reasonable pressure and the door will come open. Remove your disk and close the door and restart the machine. It may be that the disc became stuck for some reason and froze the drive. Once the offending disc is removed it will hopefully come back online.
If it doesn't come back then the CD drive may have failed, fortunately they are not too expensive to replace anymore.

Cd rom drive is stuck closed, done everything i can think of to get open, don't want to break anything, pls. help, thanx, deige.

Quasi every cd rom had a little hole for emergency eject, you can put a paper clip on it for opening the lock when the computer is off. Also under the laptop must be a screw which take the cd-rom on place.Removing only this screw you can remove entire cd-rom drive by pulling it out. You can do this with laptop turned off and the battery removed. Never use excessive force.. Hope this can help - Bye
