Re: audio and video issues when trying to play a dvd

Do you have your automatic updates on, Get online and update your drivers for your media player and your audio drivers. Also check in your device manager and see if you can upgrade your audio driver there, You will have to open windows media player and update that in the tools bar, if you need anymore help write back here, I would also suggest if your going to watch DVDs you should probably get ultimate DVD It comes with most Dvd players one of your friends may have one, or if you know anybody that has recently bought a new DVD Player for a desktop or laptop should have the Install DVD for ya. Hope this solves some of your problems. If not just come back here and let me know, I'll do my best to figure this out for you, Thanks

Re: audio and video issues when trying to play a dvd

Im not an expert on this, but it sounds like a codex problem and you need updated codex software. You can get free stuff off the web but I wouldnt know where to look. Another option is to download another DVD player program to play the DVD instead of using WIndows Media. There are some free ones on the web, but I'd recommend spending 20 bucks or so on one so you dont get loaded down with adware.

Dell latitude wont play mp4 video

Your problem might be missing codecs. A codec (compressor/decompressor) is used to 'decode' a video or sound. A video practically needs 2 codecs; a video codec and an audio codec.

To resolve your issue, try installing K-Lite Codec Pack Pro. This will ensure you to play all types of videos and music in your computer. Install the program without changing the settings if you don't know how to change them.

Also, I suggest you un-install any other Media Players that you have and leave Windows Media Player 11 (upgrade it to 11; it's free!), QuickTime and iTunes. Set Windows Media Player 11 as your default too so you can automatically play all the files you want with WMP11.
K-Lite Codec Pack! Download the latest PRO version/ It's FREE!

Cannot watch dvd movie

Possibly you do not have codecs installed, they allow either windows media player or other players to decode the dvd then play it. If you want to save the hassle of searching for them, get Cyberlink DVD is a DVD player that strictly plays DVD's without having to get a codec or decoder. OR...If you have Win XP, their is a small DVD Codec specifically designed for Windows Media Player called "DVD Decoder Pak for Windows XP" the size is 1MB.

Dvd decoder not installedhow can i install it??need a answer immediately

If it's about you not being able to play DVD's with your media player, it's because you need a media player capable of doing that - i use  .
Click on Windows, in the next window select the closest location to you, select Save (nor Run) and wait for it to completely download, close the browser and launch the installer, set it as your default media player.
When the install is finished just play whatever you want with it.

Whenever i play dvd using windows media player i got an error message : theres no compatible dvd decoder found

The word Codec stands for either Coder-Decoder or Compressor-Decompressor, depending on who you ask. There are audio, text, and video codecs. They're used to coordinate the audio track, any text for subtitles, and the video tracks in videoconferencing and streaming media. Some downloaded video clips will require a specific codec before you can play the content

1. It seems to be codec problem . Download K-Lite Mega Pack and install it. Then try playing the movie in windows media player classic that comes with k lite mega codec pack.
2. check your system for trojan , virus or any program that is using system resources. Often Video problems are caused by insufficient resources available by video/audio decoders.
3. System stand by could be missing because your bios settings dont allow it. Enter the BIOS and reset settings to default.

DVD audio

You need to install a DVD decoder. Media player is horrible on it's own, but works great if you have other DVD decoding software. Try for the software.
