Re: monitor goes to sleep and won't wake up

Yeah, im not sure about how to fix the problem with it shutting down like that, but one option is to go under your control panel and taking off the sleep function, or putting it on a 4 hour timer so that doesnt go into sleep mode anymore. However, the problem is not your monitor but your computer. Id just take the sleep mode off, there is no need to have it on.

My HP w2007 has started clicking to Monitor Going to Sleep and then going blank. I have never known how to wake it up so I have to turn the whole computer off and restart. HELP

Hey there, Normally simply pressing a random key on your keyboard or moving your mouse should wake it up, if it doesn't though I think the easiest way to solve this is to simply turn off the sleep mode after x amount of time.
If you have windows 7, press the start button and type in "power options", go ahead and open power options and there you will be able to set the time it takes before your PC shuts down, and you can also set it to never.

If you still wish to use this feature but just want to be able to it's a bit tricky and it won't even work for all PCs but if the keyboard waking isn't working, then it's probably because your pc does have this feature. When your PC is off, boot it up again and enter the bios by pressing F10 i believe it is for HP. And somewhere you should be able to set which devices are allowed to wake up your computer, all devices are probably disabled now, so go ahead and enable the keyboard to wake up your computer. Now save and exit, and the next time your PC goes to sleep mode you should be able to wake it up by pressing a key on your keyboard.

I hope I was able to assist. If I was, please don't forget to rate this solution.

HELLO, I have Princeton VL1919 monitor. Recently, the monitor is in the sleeping mode and does not display anything from computer. How can I wake it up?

If your trying to wake your computer/monitor up try pressing a button on your keyboard or move your mouse. This should wake up both your monitor and computer.

Does it do the same when you use this monitor with other PC, new VGA cable, just need to narrow down the problem first before start taking the monitor apart.

My hp vs19d power button blinks on and off slowly. what does it mean? if i let the computer sit for say 3 hours the monitor will stay blank. even after moving the mouse to wake things up

the monitor is in sleep mode ... have you tried hitting the keyboard Space bar?

if you disconnect the video cable from the pc does it display ( video disconnected) ? if it does it then is probably the sleep issue

Dell E173FP Monitor requires unplugging/plugging back in to wake

Perhaps your computer is hibernating instead of going into standby which takes a little longer to wake up from. While you are playing plugs and cables it give it enough time to come out of hibernation.

When the computer is in this mode the USB ports turn off which disables keyboard and mouse so the only way to wake up the computer is to press the power button on the computer itself.

One tell tale sign a computer is in hibernation is that the power light on the computer will slowly blink.

I hope this helps.

How do i get the monitor out of sleep mode? It was suggested I hit the ESC button on the keyboard but this hasn't worked. The only way to resolve it so far, is to turn everything off at the wall and start...

In windows click Start, Control panel, Power Options. On the first page "When computer is plugged in: Turn off monitor: Never. On the Hibernate tab the box for Enable Hiberation should be unchecked.

Please rate this fixya.

Monitor goes to sleep and never wakes up

I have called HP Technical Support 6 times about this issue and have logged at least 14 hours into the issue. The things they have done are turn all sleep settings in the "Power Options" in the control panel to "never". The problem persisted. Today, they sent my problem to the complaints department, so maybe they will have the authority to do something for my 5 week old setup.

For me, the monitor was in the "other devices" part on the device manager (go to start menu and type device, and the device manager will show up). I went to HP's website to the support and drivers spot and found a patch for the My Display program. This will allow you to uninstall your monitor, just right click the monitor under "other devices" and click uninstall. After you uninstall, restart and your computer will recognize the and put it under "monitors" in the device manager with the updated drivers. After I did this, the monitor hasn't gone to sleep.

Works when it wants to then turns whie with grey line in it

If only the monitor is going to sleep, then it could be a problem with the connection from the monitor to the computer or with the cable.

If the computer goes to sleep and if you are not able to wake it from sleep then check the sleep mode settings and also the power management settings for the keyboard and mouse.
You may also do a system restore if you are not able to wake the computer from sleep.

When I select sleep or hibernate mode - the monitor stays black...

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.
