i am having the same problem and i keep getting an error message

  • Anonymous Dec 25, 2007

error message as soon as you load a disc.

  • Anonymous Dec 29, 2007

when we first turn the console on we ge that an error has occured and we need to switch the machine off

  • Anonymous Jan 10, 2008

Error message tells you to eject disc, turn power off, and restart. When we first got it, it did it a couple times, but now (2 weeks old) it seems to do it frequently.

Same problem. The disk in the console makes an audible clicking sound which is the precursor to the black screen and white text error message. The system is two weeks old. The frequency of the problem is increasing. Seems like it takes 2-5 "eject, power off, unplug cord, and start over" reboots before it works again. Love to get a real solution. This shouldn't happen so often.

I am having the same problem! A clicking sound starts with every disc we put in then the error message appears.

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2008

Our Wii is 2 months old and we are getting the same problem of having to unplug the console after we load a disc and get the error message. It seems to be happening more frequently, about every 3rd time we use it and sometimes we have to unplug it more than once to get it to work. It makes a clicking sound, that others have mentioned, as if the drive can't read the disc and keeps jumping back. This is happening with brand new discs. I have unplugged it for an hour which didn't help. I have added an SD memory card which didn't help. I have tried the console horizontally which didn't help.

Every thing they said. Also experience delay in guitar Hero 3 Systems is  2 days old and it started right away. I will be calling the Wii people! This stinks!.

We had the same problem with our Wii. It was making the clicking sound and we were getting the error message. We couldn't get the power to shut off and had to unplug it. Eventually we sent it back for repairs and they put a new drive system in it. It worked fine for about a month, and now the error messages are starting again.

Get the error message to ejct cd and restart on every game we use

  • alisal81 Aug 18, 2008

I actually had the WII system for not quite a year, and it started to read error on every game we had. We contacted support and they said we had to pay for it to get fixed. We unplugged the system for more than 24hrs. and the problem was still unresolved, we also followed every step the tech had told us to do, than was informed we needed to send it in for repair. Now it has been sitting for quite some time.

Same as all others. Following introductory screens after turning the wii on and loading the disc, the message comes up saying to eject disc and turn the power off. This was happening on all games and now seems to mainly be happening on Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour and Mario Smash Bros. There is a loud clicking sound in the console during these failed operations. Very frustrating. We have a lot of money invested in games, etc. and for it to stop working now (and with seemingly no solution), is beyond frustrating...it feels like we are being ripped off. We have thoroughly cleaned all discs as once we were told that this would solve the problem.

  • blobberberry May 18, 2009

At first, the Wii would just say there was a disc error with every disc, then later the disc slot wouldn't take in the disc until the disc was forced in, then it would just spit it out 3 minutes later.

I have the exact same problem AND I sent it to be fixed and they told me nothing was wrong with it! Then they told me to send them in one of our games and I did that but they said it was working fine for them so I had to pay the $35 (plus what it cost me to send to them) and when it was returned - it was still not playing. Though this time when a game was put in it ejected it then took it back in spun the disk and then spat it right out!! I have contacted customer support and they sent me a pre-paid bag to send it to them again .... wonder what will happen now - something tells me that we never should have gotten a Wii in the first place!

Contact Nintendo on 0870 60 60 247. The product is under warranty for 12 months, as long as you have your receipt they are obliged to fix your machine or replace it.

It is checking to see if you have any downlaoded content on an SD card. It sounds like you do not have an SD card, and so there is the error. You do not need an SD (or SDHC) card, unless you want to extend your systems memory and be able to use dlc.

The Wii will not read the disc

"Unable to read disc" error happened today for the first time on my Wii. I positioned it horizontally and tapped on the top while it was reading a disc and it started the game. This temporary solution might bring you immediate, but probably not long lasting satisfaction.

Error reading disc turn power off

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the Exisitng Disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself.
