Probably your power supply......99.9% of the time thats what it is. you can call dell and they will tell you to check the lights on the back of the machine and tell them what happenes . But from my knowledge of dell....they've had many problems with not giving they're pc's enough wattage for the computer to run for extended amounts of time causing them to heat up more than usual and then 1 day *pop* there goes your power supply. easy to replace (usually) and not too expensive but you are going to want to upgrade. you probably have 200-250watt power supply . i would aim for 400 watt.

It's plugged in, the power strip is on, the cord in the back is secure, and there is no noise at all when attempting to power up.
Is it plugged in? Is the power strip on? Is the cord loose in the back of the computer? Is it making any noise at all when you attempt to power up?
