Question about RCA 32V420T 32" TV

1 Answer

Help Hi I have a RCA 32V434T and one evening I was listening to a music channel ans the thing died. I unplugged the unit and let it set for several minuets and it still wont start up, it just makes a clicking sound and the red light on the front blinks 25times then stays on solid. I really have no clue where to start or if it is worth fixing. Thanks John

The picture on the tv is blue red and green Above is your user manual. Above and below aew training manuals, these show you how they work, and how to isolate issues.
It sounds like your "Mixer" has faulted, however what has "Caused" that, may be one of many things. This unit must have troubleshooting procedures to isolate the issue.
it is my professional opinion though that everyone should take their units to their manufacturers, RCA in your case, approved service center, contacting a local or head office, of your unit & getting an approved service center is just SO important, even worth the extra to ship it, you see, at those places, the Engineers, are trained on the equipment you have, they usually have parts on hand, and do the job quicker. Anyway do that and get a "Quote". This way, at least, you'll know weather to repair or replace

My 32v434t television.

The TV was making the clicking noise and not turning on because an internal error was being detected.
Now things had got worse , and something had blown inside the TV.
The burning smell and high pitched noise is coming either from Flyback transformer or PSU board. Repair is a delicate matter and must be done by a technician.

Got an rca 32v434t, plugged in hooked up, and it

we would need more information:

has TV worked before
how many hours has TV been used

I have seen this 'ShutDown' on many failing monitors..

Typicaly the Power Supply circuit in your TV
have 'Over Current' detection\protection
and your 10 second is just about how long somthing is probly taking to either:

over current and shut down
or more specifically:

one or both things wrong with it:

bad electrolytic capacitors ( maybe )
but if it's a perfect picture for all 10 seconds then probobly some specific semiconductor or module is: 'Heating Up' then 'OverTemperature' and failing in a manner that causes an immediate overcurrent condition, shutting off the TV.

- give more information

- if capable of safely removing the back of the TV to allow for inspection...
by the high voltage that remains stored inside the tube, even after power has been removed !
then pop her open and have a look at
the PCB's ( circuit boards )

if somthing has been running hot and has led to this type of failure; then your circuit board will be discolored near the mounting of that device... You may even notice a burnt pcb smell at that area.

somtimes you can find these semiconductors or modules in catalogs or online ( OfCourse )

and yourself or sombody with sufficient knowledge of soldering and the
' Potentially Life Threatening Hazzardes '
that exist around CRT monitor repair....

... can go ahead ad replace the suspect part.

RCA 32V434T (32'') TV has no Red or Green pixels, only Blue

The color problems are caused by cracked/broken solder joints on the circuit that controls the display.  Usually this is located at the back of the tube on a small circuit board. Your description suggests that only the blue signal circuit is intact. I suggest these joints be resoldered for more strength.
It's a possibility that another IC senses this problem (or another one) and then shuts down the system.
Resolder those joints and see what happens.

LOL nothing to do with the teenagers as your hoping it is?? LOL It about the life of the tv your talking about to have vert. sweep problems and at this point not a serviceable thing you can fix! As there are no serviceable parts inside these sets and ther is a HI voltage issue you need to know before you start tinkering with a set like this. Its a problem as i said in the verticle sweep circuit and is probably the capacitors in the circuit causinging the problems. Get real and enoy your kids while you can and try not to blame all that goes wrong on them even if it seems it may be from them. They didnt cause this problem!
