I just got home from a few days away and noticed that the refridgerator had quit. The fan was still running but it wasn't at a cold temp. After playing with it a bit, I unplugged the appliance and plugged it back in. The fan started and continued to run. The compressor started for about 30 seconds then there was a click and it quit. Is this a compressor, thermostat or liquid problem or is something else?
Thanks

Away for 3 days, got home and fridge is not cold. Ice in freezer still frozen so it must have just happened. The condenser is hot and fan is running but tubings are not cold. Unplugged for an hours to cool down the compressor, restart but it works for a minute and quits. Light stays on, fan continues to run but freezer and main not cold. Any DIY tips? TCW.
Start relay...this gives a quick shot to the compressor to start the cycle...if it doesn't shut it will go to overload. The capacitor in the start circuit which assists the start relay or the compressor itself. Best bet: get a service guy in.
I got home that is three to four years old, and already having trouble with the A/C system. First time the system cool the place for few minutes then few hours it was just after playing with it a bit. Then A/C tech. did diagnostic and the system cooled the place for Five hours. Again the A/C tech replaced a Capacitor on the system, the system start working again for a week..
In other words, The A/C system start working from few minute - few hour- finally stop after five day ...
Solution suggested was to replace TXV @ metering ...
