SOURCE: Boom and Bang Washing Machine

Bed sheets or comforters will often get out of balance in the spin cycle or during the rinse cycle. Throw some towels in there next time at least 5 big ones. They are engineered to take a little of this banging, it should only happen once in a while.

SOURCE: Foul odor from front load washing machine

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
Pull the rubber door seal back and clean the mold off .

Washer will not spin out

There is most likely a clog in the pump filter. Check the hose between the tub and drain pump. If that isn't it check the door switch.

Our LG227HW washer is showing an error code UE, what does this mean and how do we correct it

UE means an unbalance load. Either you have too small a load, too much of a load or you're washing a large bedsheet all by itself. If you are washing a large bed sheet or bed spread, you need to add about 4 bath towels in the load to help offset the balance problem. As for loads, you can only put in 15 lbs of dry weight laundry in the wash. Preferably, fill the tub with clothes half way up the window and no more.

Washer won't start, lights all work except top one, door lock. I changed the locking device but still the same. On the trouble list the next step should be to change the control board??? The model is...

The board would be the likely problem if the switch is good. To double check the switch check it for ohms, it should be around 1500 ohms no lower than 1400 if it is the switch is bad if it checks good replace the main control. Whirlpool front load washer won't spin - just sometimes

Most Whirlpool (Hotpoint) machines have "out of balance" sensors that detect very large movements of the drum suspension usually due to a very badly balanced washing load.
This can occur for various reasons but putting large and/or heavy items in can trigger these sensors i,f as the machine starts to spin, the items dont get distributed evenly around the drum. This is more likley with large/heavy items.
The machine will then restrict the spin speed for the remainder of the wash cycle, and once the machine is switched off, the next time the machine is used it returns the spin speed back to normal - but if it detects an out of balance situation, it will again restrict the spin speed.
It sounds to me the machine is acting as designed. You could try positioning the items differently as you load them, and hope they dont end up "all over one side".
