Question about Fujitsu LifeBook T4215 Tablet PC
On powerup, my Fujitsu Lifebook T4215 screen no longer comes up (no backlight, no image). The blue "power-on" indicator lights up, the hard disk spins up, and the little lcd panel shows that: a) the power is on, b) the DC power is plugged in, c) the battery level is shown, d) and the hard disk activity icon flickers (as you would expect). After a few seconds, the numlock indicator in the little LCD panel begins to blink, which it will do until I power off the machine. Nothing else happens, except the cooling fan will kick up every now & then -- the CPU is warm as usual.
This began right after I (gulp, yes I'm to blame) took it apart in an effort to fix its multibay connector, which had somehow gotten smashed in there. I used this guide on the web: http://simshsia.wordpress.com/2008/07/15/disassembly-of-the-fujitsu-lifebook-t4200-series-tablet-pc/ which made it pretty effortless. The only step I took in addition to the guide was to release the ribbon cable from the multibay connector, remove the two screws that hold the connector in, bend and tweak the connector back into shape (more or less). Then I reassembled the machine in the reverse order. My troubles began then. Before my intervention, the machine worked, but I could not use the DVD or second battery (because the connector was out of whack). Now the battery/DVD will go in (hooray).... but the PC doesn't work. I consider this a degredation ;-)
I have disassembled and reassembled the machine twice more in an attempt to spot connectors that I missed, etc. I even removed the multibay connector to see if I'd possibly shorted something in its pins, but all to no avail.
Help? Thanks - Steve
You need to send it to Memphis, Tn for a factory reset, call the Fujitsu 800 number on there web site and have your serial number handy.
Don't disassemble a Fujitsu!! Ever!
They automatically lockup as a security precaution, aren't you glad you saved some money?
