Toshiba A65-S1065 hdd compatibility

Will the Toshiba MK8026GAX hard drive work with a Toshiba A65-S1065 laptop. I searched and could not find a compatibility chart anywhere. Also if the computer keeps shutting down I think that there must be an overheat problem. The Toshiba website offers a solution but I want to know if you think it will work. There is a new BIOS download that is supposed to solve the problem. How do I load the bios without a hard drive do you think it will load from a thumb drive?

Re: Toshiba A65-S1065 hdd compatibility

The hard drive should work fine thats a standard IDE drive.

For the overheating problem you probably just need to clean the fans with a can of compressed air. That series gets clogged pretty easily. Just blow from the bottom of the laptop where you see the fan towards the outlet in the rear.

You can boot from a USB floppy drive to do a bios upgrade - you can get USB floppies for $20 or so.

Or i have loaded a bios from a bootable CD (you can make one from Roxio or Sonic record now if you make a bootable floppy first - get one Here:

Recomended replacement HDD for HP Compaq NC6120 (PG825EA#B1A). Original HDD "Toshiba MK8026GAX"

Circuit City currently haas some really great deals on the hitachi 500GB 7200/16 MB 2.5 Mobile Sata HD for approx $90 with no shipping fee. Simply to install and works like a charm. I have replaced about 6 of the original Toshiba hard drives in the past few months and not had a single complaint only complimentary feed back about the Hitachi replacements. Its worth looking into.

I want to replace the hard drive in my toshiba satellite A65-S1762

Easy. Your HDD is located in front of the battery pack - to the side. The door is held in by one screw, and the HDD is held to a bracket by 2 screws. Any 2.5", 9.5mm height ATA IDE drives will do. Make sure you don't lose the door, bracket, and screws.

Wont turn on at all

With no power, take out the battery and only hook up the AC Adapter and see if the laptop turns on.

If it doesn't then take out the hard drive and also the dvd drive.

Try turning on the laptop again. If the laptop is still dead then you know that the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.
