HTC P3300. WM 6. Speaker won't turn off during calls

HTC P3300. WM 6. Has been hard reset. No additional programs on it. During calls the speaker remains on very loud and can't be selected off. (The mic also was very poor before the reset but now OK)

Hi
I have a similar problem. Some time my phone works fine and some time the speaker is on and can't switch it off.. this is due to the charging pin, loose connection.. you need to handle carefully while detaching your phone from data cable or the charging wire.

I hear echo

Are you or the other person using the speaker phone function? Does this happen during conference (3 way) calling? If you're using the speaker phone function, especially during a conference call, you're likely to hear an echo. I've had this very same issue with a different phone and the only solution I found was not to use speaker phone.

Good Luck!

The speaker does not work properly.

Try a hard reset, press power, volume down, and enter/ok/center button, all 3 at the same time, and while pressing those down, press the reset button in the back down. Once it reboots, you can let go of the reset button, but keep holding down the other 3 until you get a message asking you to revert to manufacturers settings.
This will erase all data and settings, so make sure you backup your files (and use ActiveSync to sync contacts to outlook, to make a backup of contacts).

If this doesn't work either, then if you have the warranty, send it back to HTC to get it looked at.

Hard reset

Occasionally, you may need to reset your device. A normal (or soft) reset of your device clears all active program memory and shuts down all active programs. This can be useful when your device is running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly. A soft reset is also necessary after the installation of some programs. If a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work will be lost.
You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings — the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
To perform a soft reset
Use the stylus to press the RESET button found on the lower left side of your device. Your device restarts and displays the Today screen.

To perform a hard reset

  1. Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and the Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the lower left side of your device.
  2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two soft key buttons. Release them only when you see the following message on your device screen: “Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.“
  3. Press on your device. Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.
