Question about HP Compaq nx6110 PC Laptop
Hmmm..that sounds like a motherboard problem about to happen. you have warranty coverage on this unit? also, you may wish to turn over the computer, remove battery, get static off your hands, then remove and reseat the memory cards underneath(most likely behind a small panel with a small phillips head screw).

Tips for a great answer:
I had this problem (hanging on the screen with F10 = ROM based setup) for a while on my HP nc6220 laptop. Was taking several attempts to boot. Replaced the hard drive. Ran virus and malware detection, all clean. Stumbled on to the posting where someone wrote about applying pressure by the touch pad seemed to help. It did. Then the problem gradually got worse. Thought maybe there was something loose. Downloaded the disassembly procedure from hp.com. I found the 2 ground contacts under the touch pad had oxidation on them. Cleaned them with a pencil eraser. Reassembled the laptop and have not hung once. Everything runs faster as well. This is not for the novice, but someone with a little experience should be able to get through the process. Hope this helps someone.
