A part of a Top Elite double flush cistern has snapped

I have a Top Elite double flush toilet where you press one of two buttons in the top to flush. The small plastic part to which the button fitting is screwed and through which 2 thin plastic poles pass to activate the flush has snapped. Can I replace this?

Is there a way to change the toilet from front flush to top flush to accommodate the button on the top of the unit in the tank?

So did the top not come with the tank itself, is it a replacement? Or is it a tank where you can choose top or front flushing?

In my experience the mechanism for top flush is more complicated than front flush which just lifts the flapper. Take the top off and look. See if there is a link that can be taken from the front and clipped to the top. you state is has a 'self contained unit', so it doesn't sound like a standard lifting flapper, so you may well be able to choose.

Half flush does a full flush

It's not nessesarily a half flush just as little water as is possible for that toilet. The full flush has just a little more. It may be hard to tell the difference.

How do i lift the top of the toilet off the button is stopping me doing so

It sounds like you have a tamper proof cistern. The ones I know of you will need to press and hold down half flush and then pull up full flush button(do not force).
Under the buttons is a flat screw once removed your lid will be able to be removed

I am having trouble getting the top of the cistern of an Omnia Pro suite. Does the flush button unscrew or clip off.

The flush button should unscrew from the top of the lid. to replace the flush mec. and to remove the lid.

Good luck

Cannot remove top of cistern

There are some dual flush cisterns where you have to depress one button to reveal a cavity in the second button. Put a screwdriver in that cavity to lever out the second button, then release the first button and prise that out.

Underneath the buttons is a screw which must be unscrewed to release the cistern lid.

Not sure if this will apply to you... but if not, good luck anyway.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I don't know how to get the top off of my

The cistern lid is held down by the chrome assembly (which includes the two buttons that you press to make the toilet flush) sticking up in the middle of the lid. You need to unscrew that (anticlockwise) to be able to lift the lid off, to get to the inlet valve, etc.

If the water is running in very slowly, chances are high that the small screen filter under the inlet valve is partially blocked. Working inside the cistern, you need to unscrew the inlet valve assembly (noting the order in which the various parts come out!), then unscrew the cranked fitting just under that, to get the screen/filter.
