Tray starter and InstantWrite Control Center have stopped working!

I am sorry of my English! About 2 weeks ago, I install the second disk of Corel WordPerfect X3, I did not know that after I push the CD Rom tray in, the software just began to install right away. In that disk there is bundle of software on it and one of them is Norton Anti Virus. After I installed them, my computer was frozen. When I tried to start it, instead of starting the windows Vista normally, it went into the repaid mode. After several times of starting by itself, my CR Rom was not working. Following days, two windows keep popoping up, notified me that 1. Tray starter and 2. InstantWrite Control Center have stopped working. My CD-Rom is Hitachi HTS 541616J9SA00 ATA-Device. Disk Drive. HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GSA-T11N Ata Drive and VOBID InstantDrive CD SCSI CD-Rom. Please help me. Thank you very much.

Had the same problem, after installing WordPerfect it started giving the same errors as the above reporter, tried windows restore, it didn't work. Tried uninstalling WordPerfect, didn't work either. Tried HP restore (this is ho laptop DV2736us), didn't work either. Appreciate if anyone gives a solution.

Throw away the WordPerfect software if you have. Don't try that on Vista

I am having the same problem after trying to install WordPerfect 12 on my computer running Windows Vista. I get the error messages saying both the Tray Starter and InternetWrite Control Center have both stopped working. Now the CD ROM drive freezes.

    How can I fix this?

I just read on another website that the program "Pinnacle CD/DVD Suite" is the problem. It gets installed along with Wordperfect and it needs to be un-installed. I had the same problem with the 2 pop-ups and then when I tried to put in a cd with pictures on it, my computer crashed. I have just un-installed the Pinnacle CD/DVD Suite on my computer and the messages are gone and I can run cd's again!!

We all know that Vista is not perfect yet due to some bugs and some software that this OS(VISTA) didnt accept. Reinstall a new copy of your windows and avoid installing program not compatible with VISTA. It will really damage your windows.

I have used CorelDraw 8 for years, and the clipart worked fine, even with Windows XP, but I installed CorelDraw X4 and installed it. But after Installing CorelDraw X4, I could no longer is CorelDraw 8...

I had a similar problem with Coreldraw 8. I used it successfully for years and loved it on varoius version of Windows, currently XP. I installed Coreldraw 12 and still had Corel 8 on the computer.
Now the problem: Corel 8 and Corel 12 could not open the Corel 8 clipart disk #2, only just down to the folder level. When I right clicked on the Corel 8 disk #2 clipart folder and checked the Path Properties it gave me a path other than the correct clipart disk location (in my case it should have read E:) BUT it was some weird location like
MNfisherman referenced above and read: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Corel.! What the?! I knew the path should have read E: to access the clipart since the clipart was on the disk and in my CD tray, so I uninstalled Corel 12 thinking that was the problem since 8 had worked fine, then checked the clipart CD again but still no luck.
I then uinstalled Corel 8, so now I had no Corel program on hard drive. I put the Corel 8 clipart disk #2 in the computer knowing it would not open the clips but just to see if I could get beyond the folder level to see if the clipart files were there and yes I could. (I could only read the names of the files at this point because no Corel on computer) So I only reinstalled Coreldraw 12 figuring the later version would open the older version clipart and Success! It worked. I think my problem had something to do with the Corel 8 MF indexer, but I'm not sure. I had a red semi circle (like the Corel Set Up Semi circle) on all of the clipart folders instead of the regular yellowish fold so thats why I think it had something to do with indexer or other type of setup conflict). Now all of my clipart folders appear normal being the regular yellowish color folder.
I suggest using a clean slate by unistalling all versions (Make sure you shut down the computer after each uninstall to get rid of all of the components of the program and then restart the computer) and then only reinstall the newest version. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Sony dvd player DVPCX995VMakes grinding noise and door won't open

I was able to fix this myself, however, I did get instructions from Sony that may or may not work. My solution was:
Unplug the unit and carefully (so the disks don't shift) move to a location where it can be easily worked on.
Remove the 9 screws holding the cover on. 2 on top, 2 on each side, and 3 at the back, along the top edge.
Carefully, may need some wiggly remove the cover. There are some rubber pads at the front of the unit that hinder the cover from sliding. Slightly wiggling and pulling to the rear will dislodge it.
Confirm all disks are properly aligned on the carousel.
Pull out any disks that are askew. They will be replaced later in the same way disks are added, through the door.
Look in the rear where the laser unit is.
Carefully slide out disks near the laser. You'll have to move some in order to tip others out.
By taking out 6-10 disks, you'll probably find there's one partially lodged in the laser unit. With adjacent disks removed you can slide the "stuck" disk out.
Plug in the unit and test to see if the grinding stopped.
Unplug the cord.
Replace the cover with the 9 screws. Some wiggly and pushing forward is needed to reseat the cover at the front.
Carefully move the unit back to where it was.
Replace cables and plug in.
Return the disks removed according to the instructions.
This took me about 15 minutes from start to finish.

The following was provided by Sony. I don't know if this works as I had fixed it before Sony responded.
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
  1. Ensure the child lock feature is disabled.
  2. Attempt to open the disc tray.
  3. If the issue is not resolved, turn off the DVD player.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Attempt to open the disc tray.
  7. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons.
  8. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons. NOTE: This step may not apply to all models. DISC1 is not available on all DVD players.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.

2007 FORD SPORTS TRAC BATTERY KEEPS DYING

180 milli-amps is way to much draw, ford's limit is 50 milli-amps but typically we usually only see around 20-30. Now when you say fuse 2 is that in the under-hood fuse panel or the interior fuse panel? And if this vehicle is a 2007 it may still be under factory warranty which was 36 months or 36000 miles providing that the add on automatic starter is not causing your draw.Which in that case the people who installed it should be responsible for that.

Ice maker stopped after electric shutoff

You may have a problem with the computer control board in the ice maker.  Try this.  Turn off the icemaker for about 2 minutes.
Turn on the ice maker and press the clear button.  Press and hold this button for 12 seconds to get it to force extract.  This will confirm that the motors will work and push the ice cubes out.  Afterwards, let it run by itself.  If it still doesn't make ice, you will need to replace the icemaker.
