Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Removing & Cleaning the Absorbent pads.
The printer has 2 ink absorber pads that are located under the ink cartridges.
With power off the head assembly / cartridges can be moved into the middle for access.
Each of the 2 ink absorber pads are seated in a rubber retainer. The pads can be easily removed cleaned or replaced.
Carefully remove the pads using long nose pliers or tweezers.
Clean the using with running warm water, or use an isopropyl alcohol bath, or an isopropyl alcohol based aerosol if they are really dirty. DO NOT USE ANY SURGICAL SPIRIT OR ANY OIL BASED CLEANERS. At a push you can use a warm water mild washing up liquid bath but be sure to thoroughly rinse out the solution after cleaning. The pads should be white when they are clean.
Dry the pads – it may take some time and placing them in a warm environment or near a warm radiator will speed this up.
Clean away any ink on the retaining rubbers using a cotton bud or clean and soft lint free cloth.
Replace the DRY pads in the rubber retainers.
Replace the Ink cartridges.
Power on the printer and print a test page and clean and realign the heads as required.
If the E27 error message reappears then you will need to reset this.
Clearing procedures for E27 or Error 27 Code.
Power on the printer by pressing the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
When the Power led is green press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
When releasing the Power and the Stop / Reset buttons the printer will move into a service mode and will be Waiting for a menu selection.
When the Power led is green, press the Stop/Reset button 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

How to clear E27 Waste ink absorber full
1.With the printer powered off but connected to a power source,
press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2.When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times
while pressing and holding the Power button.
3.When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order),
the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4.When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the
specified number of time(s) according to the function listed in the table below.
(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange
and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.
The number of the Reset button pressing LED Function Remarks
0 time Green Power off
1 time Orange Service pattern print (auto teste)
2 times Green EEPROM print (dados da EEPROM)
3 times Orange EEPROM reset (EEPROM reset)
4 times Green Waste ink counter reset (Absorvente reset)
5.Turn off the printer.( it must be turn off) then turn it on again.
