There is no problem with the connection ? - Again, I would like to add 2 more Marine Channals to the 725e. I have done that before but have now forgot how to do it. As mentioned I can press the PWR button together with the MEM button and then go to f.inst. L1 with the arrow key and then there is a way to get the 725e to enter that channal - but how - Regards Almdal

It is mentionen in the manual, that "it must be programmen by an Autorized Dealer" but as mentioned I have previously done it myself. One must look up for the Service Manual

Now I want some other channals in the Marine Band, but forgot how to do it. I now that I shold press the PWR and MEM simultaneous - and then what ? The danish importer of Garmin cannot help me as they also dont know how to do it.

You cannot select more then 10 channels.if more then ten channels are already selected the new channel will not get installed.check out in the mem that how many channels are there at present.if more then ten then some has to be deleted to install new channels.also it works on the frequency range.if the certain channel which you want to install and that channel is not coming in that required frequency it will not get installed. then try the following.procedue which you mentioned. -------- check out thanks.keep updated.

How do I connect my Garmin GPSMAP 451 to a Standard Horizon GX1200E VHF radio, eclipse DSC?

Hi
You'll need to identify and connect NMEA out (+ and -) from your 451 to NMEA in (+ and -) to your VHF to get it done.
Hope this is helpful.

How to hook a uniden vhf radio to a garmin 4208 for nmea operation?

Hi
I realize this question is old, but for the benefit of someone else who might have the same query, the NMEA 0183 outputs from the 4208 are the gray (+) and black (-) which go to the data in of your DSC VHF. The data OUT from your VHF connect to the white (+) and black (-) of the 4208.

If using NMEA 2000, using the second link below, start on page 10.

The installation instructions are about halfway down on the link page and can be accessed directly from the install link below if you prefer. -Steve

W do I turn off squelch control on a digitech DC-1065 marine radio hand held 5 Watt

Hi David,

Before I try to give advice, I need more info.

I possess a Digitech DC1065 UHF 80 Channel CB hand held, so there seems to be some confusion here.

I live near Perth, Western Australia.

Firstly, How many channels does your radio have?

If the answer is 80, then what you have is a UHF CB, not a marine band radio.

Marine band is VHF with 87 Channels, in Australia that is, and the default channel is always 16.

Digitech are an Australian radio manufacturer, so you'll get great backup service.

If your radio is not defaulting to Ch16, then I am right about it being a UHF CB.

Therefore, it is useless for VHF anything, let alone Marine band.

I'm almost 100% sure this is a UHF CB in your possession.

Try this to prove me right please.

Reply to me with your Country and nearest city, I'll then be able to find a solution for you real quick, though I believe I already have.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,
Peter

Ihave an old icom icm- 55 marine radio what ariel do i need and do i need to swr the ariel will a cb ariel work basically what do i need to do to get it working

All marine VHF radios must be licensed. A marine radio station must also have a call-sign allocated to the vessel it is installed in. Shore based stations can also be licensed but only where they are involved in marine based activities e.g Yacht Clubs, Marinas, Harbour Masters, Rescue Services etc.
In the UK ships radio licences can be obtained from Ofcom. They are free for non-commercial users.
The user must also have a Marine VHF Radio operators certificate. This requires taking an exam. In the UK contact the Royal Yachting Association for a copy of the syllabus and local examiners.
More information about the licensing rules, courses and exams can be found here. http://www.rya.org.uk/infoadvice/regssafety/Pages/licensingelec.aspx
The ICOM ICM55 is a good radio set and can still be used in an existing (marine) installation but it does not meet the standards for new installations as it does not have DSC (digital selective calling) capabilities - which all new fixed sets must now have. It is therefore very unlikely that you will be able to get a licence to install one.
To get it working you will need a proper marine band VHF aerial which operates in the frequency range 156-MHz. They usually come with cable attached but if a longer cable is needed, or the aerial is not cabled in the first place, use flexible 75 ohm co-axial cable with a copper core and braid/foil screen. Use proper aerial connectors (type F or BC are most commonly used and can be obtained from most good electronic component suppliers more cheaply than from a boat chandlers. Do not use push-fit TV aerial plugs)
Citizens Band radio works on the much lower frequency MHz band and therefore a CB aerial will not work with a marine VHF radio set. Please see this Wikipedia article for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_VHF_radio

The same thing happened to me, and I'm just hitting the two-year mark with this thing. I tested it using the aux speaker leads and that still works. So it is only the little front-panel speaker that is broken. And I checked the leads on that little speaker, and they seem fine. So it is the little speaker itself that broke. Easiest repair is to connect the aux leads (red and brown) to another speaker.

VHF transmit power

Hi, It is not typical but neither is there a problem with the radio. Transmit Power output is loosely dependent on the: 1. Frequency or channel you are transmitting. Normally, Marine Band VHF are calibrated for max (25 in your radio) at Ch16 or 156.800Mhz; 2. If the SWR of the antenna is not a flat 1.0, power tends to go down; 3. After some time, the TX side of the radio needs to be re-calibrated; 4. Power Supply - some radios will push max output only when powered with 13.8 and tends to go down when used with 12 volts. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
