I believe a simple solution to this beings with assigning a static IP address to the PS3

IF your router is and
your subnet mask is

and your DHCP range is for
50 licenses to 192.168.149

The address your PS3 between and

Configure you PS3
IP address192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DNS Address
(for the above DNS address to work you must have loaded the ISP assigned IP addresses into the router which you probably have alrready done.

Let me know if this does not work. I will respond to messages here until we resolve the issue.

Then on you router your DMZ address should be set to (your PS3's IP Address)

Error code 8002a548

Here are the official troubleshooting steps from Playstation for that error code:

Basically it's saying you're having network problems...
Are you using your PS3 over WiFi?
If so, try plugging a computer cable into the back to see if the problem stops.
Make sure you do a network connection test in your PS3

These might also help:
Try resetting your modem/router and disconnecting other devices from your network. (they may be needlessly sucking up bandwidth.)
Also, try shutting off the media server connection. (Settings > Network Settings > Media Server Connection > 'Disable'.)

New ps3 and wondering how to conect to my computer

It depends what you want to use it for. If you mean connect it so you can access songs, pics, videos etc, you need to set up a DLNA Media Server connection.
There is a page on how to do this, click on the link below >>>

There are 2 different ways to achieve this. One is with media server and the other is using Windows Media Player. Click on the next link for detailed instructions.

Cannot get Sony PS3 to find the media server on my network. It is a wired connection. The PS3 has no trouble accessing the internet. I have tried DHCP and tried giving it a static address. I've tried...

Shut off the ps3
Go to start, run, then type services.msc.
pick windows media network sharing and stop it
go to c drive, docs and settings, all users, there should be a DRM folder delete everything inside.
Go back to servies.msc and start back up the windows network media sharing
Then turn back on your ps3 and it should work, check wmp11

NOTE: It is your system and your responsibility for using this information. Be careful with what you do if you are unfamiliar with these instructions.hope this helps

All I want to do is run the playstation thru my computer. Do I have to connect it to the internet to do that?

not internet but your home network.
i'm not sure you can use your playstation through your computer. but you can access your pictures, music, videos that is stored on your computer from your ps3. if you have the latest version of windows media player it makes it easier.

Using Windows Media Player 11 as the server
Open Windows Media Player 11
From the toolbar, select Library then Media Sharing
Check "Share my media"
On the PS3 - Under Video, Photos or Music, select "Scan for media server"
Go back to the PC, and you should see a pop up showing an unknown device trying to connect.
Allow the device, and everything should work.

My new 3.15 ps3 won't play blu-ray but will play everything else no problem. no problems to play games or to play normal dvd's. When playing a blu-ray the UNIVERSAL part at the start of the movie plays...

f the Blu-ray Disc does not support 1080p 24Hz video mode, the video output may not display properly.

If a Blu-ray Disc movie is not loading properly or is freezing on a title screen, this may be caused by the PLAYSTATION 3 attempting to download BD-Live content from congested movie studio servers. If you experience this issue, you may choose to temporarily bypass the BD-Live content until the congestion at the movie studio servers has cleared.

Go to Settings icon (Settings) > Video Settings icon (Video Settings) > [BD Internet Connection], select "Confirm". Then reload the Blu-ray movie and the PLAYSTATION 3 will prompt you if you wish to allow the disc to access BD-Live content. Choose to not access BD-Live content to see if the movie will now load.
For some reason you seem to think this is a PS3 problem. Why do you think this is a PS3 problem? If you can play PS3 games, then I will say it is not a PS3 problem, as all PS3 games are on Blu-ray, and if you were having problems playing PS3 games, then that could account for the movie not working.

Since only the movie isn't working, I am going to say you have a defective Blu-ray disc. Did you just buy this movie, or have you viewed it before using the PS3? If you have never viewed it on the PS3, then the problem lies in the disc, and you need to take it back and have it exchanged.

If you have played the disc in the PS3 before (the PS3 you are having a problem with, not a different PS3 or Blu-ray player), or you still think it is a PS3 problem, then use the "Disc Troubleshooting" support page. Normally, if a Blu-ray movie will not play, it won't play at all, and it is because the Blu-ray laser has gone out. It sounds to me that the disc is bad, but this is only going on the information you have supplied.

Here is the Disc Troubleshooting support page mentioned above:…

Sorry, I just noticed you gave a UK link. Here is the support page for the UK. You will have to do a search on the site to find the Disc Troubleshooting page for your region.

Cant find a media server on my ps3

make sure your PC and PS3 are networked (you can do this via wireless but using the LAN cable is better if you want to watch films)

You need to set your PC up to be the media server. you will then be able to stream all you music and movies that are on your pc to your PS3

Upgrade your copy of windows media player to 11

once you have done this go to the libary icon. Select sharing and select share with other devices.

Then boot your ps3 up and search for media server

You should see a dialoge box on your telling you a new device want to access. Tell it yes. then you should be able to your view the entire libary.

To access your music etc you always need to make sure media player is running on your pc

Hope this helps.

Ps3 found media server(linkstation) but cannot see any of the video files? can see video files thru windows xp. how do i get ps3 to see the video files?

there is no one blanket answer to this problem that could have many causes. It could be the DLNA server on the linkstation, it could be the version of the firmware on the PS3 or it could be the files that you have on the linkstation, BUT this link on the sony forum touches on some of these and offers some solutions However most people seem to install something called twonky server, which i am planning to do...... hope this gets you started.
