Question about Apple iPhone 3G Black Smartphone
Need help. I recently purchased an iPhone (did not know it was stolen) from someone who was selling it. It was working fine with my sim card. I tried to update it and iTunes blocked it. iTunes says: Only Compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone...etc. Please someone help.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the new sim card is connected with having an iphone account. when you say it is officially unlocked.
does this mean that AT&T unlocked your phone?
what i think your saying is that if you have 2 sim cards, one that is in use and the other is a spare you cannot use both. at the same time.
the sims are standalone, to use a spare sim it has to be activated by the carrier, thus disabling your original sim.
when you change sims you will need to reboot the phone that will not change.

SOURCE: SIM card not supported in itunes
what you need to do is put your iphone in recovery mode then wait until itunes reconizes your iphone. it should say itunes has detected a iphone in recovery mode choose restore and that should take care of the problem, (if you backed up your iphone b4 you updated it) and if that doesnt work your still in luck because the dev team put out a new jail for 2.2.1 n lower try jailbreaking it using quickpwn hope this helps
