Compaq dx 1000 processor fan does not pick power.what might be the problem?

There might be issue with the power cable of the Fan or socket on which power cable fixed is not working.
Try to connect the Chassis Fan on this socket. If works then issue with your Fan or not then issue with your socket on motherboard

DELL 8400 MAKES A LOUD FAN NOISE AND WONT BOOT

There are 2 basic fans in Dell tower one for the power supply and the other for the Processor. If your computer is not booting then the Processor fan is most likely to be the culprit. What could be happening is that the Processor fan is no longer turning fast enough to cool the processor, so normal the processor when it over heats there is either protection to switch off the computer automatically or the computer won't boot. The best thing is to change the fan and make sure it is working properly but checking on the cables that they won't entangle on top of the fan to impede it's movement. You can easily damage your processor if the fan is not working properly.

RE ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard.. system will not power up.. processor heatsink fan does not power up ... but ... removing processor and pressing power switch fan does work.. what is the problem??

Bad Power Supply. Weak voltage power rail.

[There are three main power rails in the SMPS for your desktop computer.
A) The 3.3 Volt power rail
B) The 5 Volt power rail
C) The 12 Volt power rail ]

1) ALL of the LED lights on at once use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 Watts of power.
Just depends on what Processor it.

Remove the Processor, and you will have power to light LED lights, and spin fans.
Of course without a Processor operating, you have No computer.

Replace the Power Supply.

Do you have a KNOWN to be good, Compatible power supply available to use for a test unit?

Need guidance in replacing, or suggestions for Power Supply's to choose from, post In a Comment.

Processor fan wont work.

Hi tenfive64,

Try another fan in the cpu power slot, to see if there is no power getting to that source. If the fan turns on, well! Something ain't right with the fan. If it doen't then you'll need a power extension connector to reach for another fan power source on the board. DON'T hook it up to a non-fan power source, you will fry the fan, if not the board.

Good Luck,

Mark

The system fan is missing or is not working your system has been halted in order to avoid any damag

good day sir hi, check to see if the power supply, and processor fan is working properly, does it blow hot air. Check your processor fan, make sure that the fan is connected to the proper power port. There are two types of port, the 3 terminal port, without fan temperature monitor and the 4 terminal port with temperature monitor, check if your processor fan is compatible with the 4 terminal port.
You can also disable the temperature fan thing that monitors your system fan, just go to the BIOS setup, find the hardware monitor and set you fan to disable monitor. Hope this helps.
