  • extrmgamefrk Jan 10, 2009

i have the same problem. sometimes if i put a game in right when it starts up the screen wont stay black, but it still won't do anything. I snt it in to get fixed and they said that the hard drive was no good. They supposedly fixed the problem, but now its happening again.

  • devintyler73 Jan 15, 2009

I am 19 dyas past my one year mark of owning my ps3 (so naturally it is out of warranty) and now it screws up. It would not read any discs and gives me a start code error 802109soething. I was told this is a DNS error. I do not hae it connected to the internet. I downloaded the update on a peripheral and installed it, but encountered same problem after 10 minutes. I did a hard drive backup to peripheral and did a hard drive reformat. Now I have nothing. No screen no picture. The green lights is on and thats it.

I am pissed. I have spent over $1500 on the ps3 and games alone and this happens after a year of owning it.

They told me if I pay $149 and ship them the Ps3 they will either repair or replace it. So I guess I bend over and take it and shell out another $149 to the scam artists who use shoddy parts in their equiptment.

At first it had trouble playing the PS3 games and kept freezing. Then, it froze with a PS2 game and looked like the matrix. Now it turns on and I get the green and blue lights, but the console doesn't boot up at all.

I'm out $1400 due to dead 60GB PS3 and Sony wouldn't fixt it, so i traded it off for a damn PS2 where i bought it from. I got $100 credit for my dead PS3 so that's $500 lost for the system and another $800 in games and peripherals. Sony sucks, I won't support them anymore.

Put your PS3 in Standby Mode. The first thing your going to want to know is your model number. It can be found on the back panel of the PS3 on the serial number label, and it will begin with CECH. Example - Serial: XXXXXXXXXXXX-CECHXXX -

For models: CECHA01, BO1, E01, E01MG, G01, H01, H01MG, K01, LO1, AND P01, it will have a power switch on the back. Flip it off then back on and you will have a solid red indicator light on the front.

For models: CECH-2001A and 2001B, press the power button on the front until the indicator light turns red. If all else fails unplug the power cord and plug it back

Time to enter Safe Mode. Press and hold your finger over the power button on the front until you hear three beeps and the indicator light goes back to red. Then release the button. (The second you touch it you will hear a beep, that's the first beep. Five seconds later a second beep, another five seconds the third and final beep will sound then the indicator light will return to red.)

Press and hold your finger over the power button again until you hear a quick double beep. The release the button. (The second you touch it you will hear a beep, that's the first beep. Five seconds later a second beep, another five seconds you will hear the double beep.)

You will then see this screen. "Connect the controller with the USB cable, then press the PS button".

Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the front of your PS3 and the top of your game controller, (between the left and right bumpers). Then Press the PS button in the center of the controller.

You will then see this screen. -REMINDER: -BY DOING THE FOLLOWING ALL OF YOUR DATA ON YOUR PS3 WILL BE LOST, YOUR ONLINE STATS ARE ON THE NETWORK SO YOU WILL GET THAT STUFF BACK, INCLUDING GAMES AND ADDONS YOU BOUGHT FROM THE PSN.-

Select option number 5. (Restore PS3 System). Then select yes to perform step. You will then see this screen. "The hard disk's file system is corrupt and will be restored.

The PS3 will then restart. You will see many different languages, all that is is saying is, "Connect the controller with the USB cable, then press the PS button". Press the PS button and set your settings when it finishes it will start up and its fixed

Good luck

Hello,

Follow the below procedures if the hard disk of your PS3 is defective;

Ok, you are actually holding the power button down for too long. Please do the following to sort out the display on your PS3.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep once when you first press it, then beep again about 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear the second beep. The display will now reset and it should detect your HDMI display with no problem.

Hope this helps

After buying new av cables (all i had was an HD cable), plugging my ps3 into my friends giant old mitsubishi tv, and turning it on, nothing pops up on screen. it flickers like the system is starting up,...

Please try the following steps to solve your PS3 problem :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to start.

This solution basically resets the video output back to standard definition.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

My ps3 powers up, but I get no picture or sound.

Put your PS3 in standby mode (hold the power button until the light turns red) then release, and hold the power button again for about 10 seconds, or until the light beeps a second time. When the PS3 restarts, it should display on whatever it finds plugged in first.

It POWERS ON BUT HAS NO PICTURE,

Okay, I am now going through all the unsolved problems for which previously I had the same problems and now posting our solution. First, if you have no pic due to swiching of the cables (ie, cable av, hdmi) WHENEVER you switch your cable output, the ps3 also switches it's output. Make sure when there is no picture due to this problem to turn off the game console, then turn on, hold down the power button for approx. 5 SECs, there will be a BEEP. Let go of power button, the ps3 has then switched back to the output it is currently plugged in and will work. (ALSO sometimes you have to have ONLY the ps3 and tv hooked up) Hope this helped. I know how stressful this can be!

Hold the power button for 5 seconds or more, that will reset to regular viewing ratio. From there you can adjust to whatever you are using. I had the same problem.
