inside the unit is a power pack assemble three capacitors in between two smaller heat sinks have popped, they can be replaced and the unit should power up just fine. they are 16 volts at 1000 uF.

Thank you for the help. I actually changed the whole main power supply board and it still did not fix the problem. When I put the new one in, I had the tv on for about 3 hours and then I shut it off. No sooner did I get it back up on the wall and the problem started all over again.When I pulled the original board, the caps all looked fine so I am not even sure the board is bad. Problem is there is no one around me to test it. I am not going back to the same shop that already told me that it was a bad main power supply board. Any other suggestions?

the problem is in the power supply(they know about it good luck fighting them)but there is good news.you can remove the power supply and replace electrolytic caps,EC18,EC19,EC20 all of them are 1000mf at16 volt use 1000mf at25 volt.you can also go to shopjimmy.com enter model number you will see power supply part number MLT169B
it will be cheaper for you to replace the caps,the board cost about $80.00 from them

Power supply board is the cause.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
