Question about Hotpoint Aquarius WF220 Front Load Washer

F-08 error message on Hotpoint Washing machine WT761? The original fault on the machine was that it was tripping out and taking out a resetable fuse in my fuse box a few seconds after turning the machine on. This happened several times without machine working By trial and error I electrically disconnected the Heating element and the machine would then run fine without heating the water. I then bought a new heating element and I replaced the faulty Heater on my machine with the new one supplied. The old heater was heavily coroded and had broken through the outer metalwork through to the inner element. Set machine to run a 30 min 30 Deg wash, everything appeared to be fine then after approx 20 mins the machine stopped and displayed a F-08 error message. Machine had to be turned off at the mains to recover, tried again on a different wash programme same erorr code. I have once again electrically disconnected the new Heating element again and the machine once agian does a full wash (not heating the water). I have checked the new heating element with a megger and seems to be a good earth, near infinity. Checked the element and it is sitting at about 32.5 ohms, checked several times. As mentioned previously don't have much electrical experience and are borrowing equipment from Engineers in work. Does it mean anything that the machine works fine while the heating element is not connected?

If it works fine with the heater off then i would say that fault appears to be element..the readings you get seem okay, put you meter onto megs and check, with wires off if you get electrical leakage between live and earth...Body....of element, it could be element is heating with no water in machine causing it to burn out..this is a problem with this machine...Wish you well

Hotpoint Ultima Wt761 is displaying F-08 what can I do any ideas please

First, try turning off the mains power to the machine for 30 minutes and switching it back on to see if the error persists. This indicates a problem with the heater relay or heater. This usually means that the relay cannot be operated due to a heater fault and that the heater will need replacing. A service call to replace it will be the quickest option.
