To select snow you need to set the wheel to Scene position (SP1), then select snow mode from menu. See pages 48-50 on manual.
Regarding polarizing lens or polarizing filters, many lens and filter will adapt to this camera. Best choice is buying a polarizing filter from Fuji.

Will polaroid 52mm lens filters fit my panasonic fz45 camera

Your FZ45 accepts 52mm filters. You can use any 52mm filters you wish on this lens.

There are two types of polarizing filters: linear and circular. The linear polarizing filters are for film cameras and *some* digital cameras. Circular polarizing filters are needed by many digital cameras because the linear polarizing filter types interfere with the autofocus programs. If you shoot in manual focus modes only, it won't matter which you buy. If you do use autofocus, you ought to try the linear before buying - otherwise, purchase the circular polarizer.

I hope this helps! If it did, please rate my reply "4 thumbs up". Thanks!

My camera got wet in the snow and it comes on but

Hello

Ok, you just might be able to safe this device, but, there is a possibillity that yoou need to send the camera in so that the dried damp on the inside of the lens itself can be removed.

This is something that i suggest that you do not try yourself, as the disassembley of the lens is a very complicated task.

If the damp inside the lens is still wet, put the camera in a sealed container with about 3 cups of rice. Leave it in the sealed container for about 3 days.

If this does not work, the water damp is already dried, thus, the lens itself needs to be disassembled. This will cost about $40 to repair.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards
Andrea

I would like to photograph people and animals in snow

Using the camera in program mode with auto bracketing turned on should give you reasonable results. Winter light is “cooler” in nature and the bright reflections from snow and ice tend to make the final image too “bright."

Bracketing exposures help when photographing outdoors in the snow.

You can use flash as well. Remember to keep a spare battery for the camera, and keep it warm if you plan on being in the cold very long.

Cannot find the way in to the snow mode for taking winter picture

Turn the Mode-dial to either SP1 or SP2.
Press Menu/OK
Use arrow keys to select Beach, press OK.
The camera has no filter thread, so you can't attach a polarizing filter.

Is it possible that you shoot with the lens hood on?
If so, at wide angles you get a bottom shadow of the hood.

Polarized lens

They definitely work. I just got one in the mail today for an FZ5. Try taking a picture through a glass window to see if it elimates the glare and reflections. This is an way to test the filter.

Best situation to use each of the shooting modes

Program Auto (Factory default setting) Program Auto mode is used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering, can be adjusted manually. Portrait Portrait mode is suitable for taking a portrait-style picture of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape + Portrait Landscape + Portrait mode is suitable for taking photos which include both your subject and the landscape. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape Landscape mode is suitable for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Night scene Night scene mode is suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both your subject and the night background. Indoor Indoor mode enables you to take pictures while indoors by allowing the flash to reach farther away. Beach & Snow Beach & Snow mode enables you to take pictures of scenery containing white sand or snow. Cuisine Cuisine mode enables you to take pictures of food by increasing the saturation, sharpness and contrast settings to take sharp, vivid pictures of the subject. Self-portrait Self-portrait mode enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself, and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the wide position and cannot be changed. QuickTime Movie QuickTime Movie mode lets you record movies with sound. The focus and zoom are locked. If the distance to the subject changes, the focus may be compromised.
