Question about Frigidaire FRS23KF7AB Side by Side Refrigerator
We had a power outage. After the power outage, the icemaker stopped making ice. At first I could not get the raker arm to turn, but now it turns. However, the ice maker doesn't seem to cycle. Nothing is happening. The ice tray is empty, now water in it. I'm getting water to the water dispenser on the door. So I'm wondering if maybe the water line to the ice maker is frozen? How do I troubleshoot this issue to see if it is a frozen water line or a broken ice maker. The icemaker is one with the metal on/off arm.
Same problem, I had several power outages in a day recently. Don't know if this is when it quit making ice or not. The tray cycles, but no water ever enters the tray. I've tried the hair dryer on the tube and the back part of the freezer around it. What's the next step to diagnose the problem?
That on/off arm...you should be able to move it and it will likely make a small click when the switch goes on or off. That arm controls the ice making. There is also a float, is it working freely? It has a switch too. Ultimately, the water is controlled by a solenoid valve. It may be defective. Many of these units are removable to test the switches with a multimeter. Turn off the water and remove to test. Some parts are available...some parts are by the unit only.

The ice maker will not work if the freezer temp is not below 5 degrees "F". had the same problems. My defroster in the bottom back section of the freezer was frozen in a block of ice and not allowing the freezer to work properly.

Tips for a great answer:
Hey friend, thanks for your inquiry!
Normally, if power is not being received by your Frigidaire refrigerator it will not produce ice within the icemaker. Now once power has been restored it could take up to 24 hours to maintain temperature and start producing ice. If the power went out it is possible that the icemaker could have shorted or the water valve could have went out. I hope this information has been insightful. -Matt
