If you are opening this stick up on a computer system that has some of the file types marked as hidden you will not see these files on the stick when connected to your computer, this could take up unseen room on your stick. I would suggest formatting the stick and see if this will correct your problem, there is a slim chance that this stick has different partitions on it so this is probably not an issue.

There could be corrupted file inside your memory stick. it would be best to reformat the memory and check once again if you will get a 2GB free space.

My available physical memory reduced from280 to 160

Hi,
it would most likely be that one of the ram sticks (if u have 2 256mb sticks) has gone bonkers. try each stick seperately and see if the PC is stable. if so, u will be able to identify the faulty stick.

My 2GB memory stick PRO duo claims its full,

i) it has nothing to do with the number of songs(like you said 188 songs,,,, 15 picturess... or something like that ), it depends on the storage capacity of your memory stick(2 GB)

ii) some songs may occupy more memory, so may occupy less memory....for eg: song1: 10 mb, song2 : 3 mb; .....

so i would suggest to store some songs(not numbered ...depending upon their capacity and suffiencecy of your card....)

You can use even 1 stick of 2GIG of RAM or 2 X 1GIG of RAM or any combination will do for as long it will just be a max of 2GIG since that's the max support of your motherboard....

Motherboard Missing instruction manual for dual mode memory

Your instruction manual for the mother board should have this, however, with dual-channel motherboards, you will want to fill the same colored slots together if you have dual-channel capable memory, otherwise you'll want to fill in the off-colored slots first.  ASUS has it's manuals online, so if you've lost yours you should be able to download a pdf of it from their website.
