Submerged one t5710 unit crossing a river; no longer transmits.

A friend was using one of my t5710 units and submerged it while crossing a river. I dried it out. It now powers right up, the display works just fine but it does not transmit or receive. When the transmit button is pushed, there is static coming over the speaker. Is there any hope for this unit?

Water is the enemy on electronic items. It is possible the radio is ruined. However, as a last ditch effort, check the programming of the frequency and the interference code eliminator (and the Qt filter if any). Make certain they are identical. Here is a link to the user's guide: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T56XX_57XX_User_Manual_E.pdf

If the accident occurred within the past 24-48 hours, remove the battery pack and dry the unit with a blow dryer, leaving for an additional 24 hours to dry completely. Do not operate a wet or damp unit, as this can cause further damage.

If the water is very dirt or contaminated a last ditch effort within 2-6 hours is to run the unit through the dishwasher (no soap) and then start the drying process. Corrosion is more pervasive when there is dirty water involved.

Probably not.

The electronics in the transmit / recieve circuitry (RF = radio frequency) work very differntly from those in the display and control circuits, which prob ablyexplains why the display works, but not the rest.

The major problem with water in RF circuits is that even after it dries out, it leaves a residue, or worse still some corrosion, which adversly affects the tuning of the RF circuits.

It may be worth trying to dry it out a bit more - put it somewhere warm but not humid like near but not too close to a central heating boiler, for a few days. However, I suspect it is now beyond repair.

How can I operate electric washer if mains water unavailable

Run a hose from the inlet (Using appropriate connector) to a tank of water, pond, lake river Etc.
You will need a filter box on the submerged end of hose . You can easily make one out of a plastic container with the side cut away and replaced with very fine mesh.

My h2o mop won't steam. How do i fix it?

If your H2O mop will not steam:
1. Ensure you have followed the operating instructions.
2. Ensure you have followed the troubleshooting instructions.

If the unit fails to produce steam:
3. Switch off the power at the outlet.
4. Look at the water reservoir. Inside you will see a flexible tube with a cone on the end. Tilt the unit or give it a gentle shake to submerge the cone in water.
5. With the cone submerged, switch on the power supply and follow the normal instructions. The unit should produce steam as normal.

Note: Unless the cone is submerged in water, the unit will not steam.

What do i do when my camera got wet and it wont turn on?

It all depends on if it was totally submerged or if it was slightly exposed. If it was totally submerged, there is not much to do at this point. It will need to be replaced. The entire unit will not work as designed, due to the severe water damage. Now; if it was slightly exposed to a minimal amount of liquid, simply, separate the internal component and batteries away from the cover housing and let them dry out for 5 full days. Once the dry out period has been completed, reassemble the unit and load a fresh set of batteries. It should work now.

NOTE_ The dry out method will not work if you have already tried to operate this unit shortly after the water damage occurred. Energizing a wet system board will cause a short, thus, damaging the entire unit.

My wife's LG 8550 got wet and now won't power on

If the phone was still on while it got submerged, then you may be out of luck. Had it been off when it was submerged, using the rice trick might have worked. I would try removing the battery, and drying it out some more, but the damage may have already been done. Sorry!

Check your Qt filter and be certain it is set to zero on both radios. If you are certain each of the setting is the same on both units, your dropped unit may be no longer functioning. Sorry.
