My air conditioner is freezing up

Hello, the unit will frost from either low airflow ( dirty coil or filter) or a low refrigerant charge due to a leak.

Ac freezes at night

Hi,
Many air conditioners are not made to run at less then 65 F outdoor air temps. The pressures drop too low and they freeze up...you could try to have someone check and make sure that it is not a bit low on charge... that would make it freeze up sooner...

Why is my air conditioner freezing up?

The most common reason for an air conditioner to freeze is a clogged evaporator coil. Check and see if the filter is clean If yes then pull the unit our of its case and use the garden hose to clean it out. If it freezes after all of these steps it likely needs a shot of refrigerant.

It keeps freezing up if you put it past #5

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. Freeze ups are caused by a couple things.

1. The first thing is a dirty evaporator coil. Air conditioners that run 24 hours a day should be thoroughly cleaned every 90 days.

2. The Blower fan wheel is dirty

3. The fan motor is not running fast enough.

Most of the time these 3 items listed above are the main reasons and Air Conditioner Freezes up.

Thanks for using FixYa,

Kelly

Freezing Up

sounds like air is not flowing properly thru the a/c. if there is a filter you can pull out remove it and clean it.
