Question about Philips 19PFL3403D/27 19 in. LCD TV

Open Question

Hello I have a Philips 19pfl3403d/27 which I have to unplug from the power strip after being plugged up at night. It takes several minutes to discharge it. When the tv would not turn on no matter how long I waited I replaced the power supply from another similar monitor and am having the same issue. It is only one digit off from the model of the original pcb for the pwr supply. Are there any capacitors or any chips which might be the culprit? I can't send it off as a warranty unit as it is second hand. I work on computer hardware for a living so I can do some intermediate soldering. Thanks

SOURCE: I have a 50" philips plasma , shuts off and blinks red light 2 and 7 times Y main board module problem?

It's most likely the Y-Sus, or Y Sustain board to be more accurate. It's located on the left side of your picture under the support rail and connected to the upper and lower Y-drive modules.
Pull it, send it to PTS and then re-install. Testing isn't an option unless you have a scope and schematics and if you had those I doubt seriously you would be needing the help.
Note: it is a rather difficult job just to pull that board and re-install it... Be VERY careful not to damage the ribbon cables connecting the Y-Sus to the Y-Drive boards.

SOURCE: Philips FlatTV Black Screen 30PF9946D/37

I have the same problem and was told by my local TV repair shop I needed a new LCD panel (at $2000!!!) which I don't believe for a moment since the panels themselves rarely fail. After digging around on the net, I came across a posting from "Arfa Daily" on the website which points to either the backlight inverter board or the power supply. So far, it is the only intelligent thing I've found that makes any sense. If anyone follows this up and sucessfuly repairs your set, please let me know! ....Acepayday

I will re-post his/her answer here but to read it yourself goto:

Hello! I have a Philips 30PF9946D/37 30" LCD that no longer turns on.
Upon pressing the power button, the status LED goes from green to
amber then to red.

Is this a common problem with these?

Thank you!
Could be ps board.

It's a common problem with all LCD TV sets. First, try unplugging the
display panel's backlight inverter board. It is very common for these to
fail and cause the set to revert to standby. Otherwise, it's most likely
that the PSU itself is faulty - also very common.

Examine it *very* carefully for bulged electrolytics on the secondary side.
Note that these may be 'hiding' under bits of heatsink, so look carefully.
Also, check all large and heatsink-mounted devices, for bad (lead-free !!)
joints, which is another common cause of your described symptoms. Other than
this, you're a bit 'on your own' with LCD sets. There are other possible
causes, such as bad sound output chips, but if you really do have a power
supply problem that's not one of the things described, then you will
struggle to get to the bottom of it without schematics, and an intimate
knowledge of switchmode power supplies. These LCD ones are infested with
monitoring circuitry for output voltages and over-current conditions, and
they all work on the standby supply, so if *any* unexpected condition is
detected either at startup, or during use, the standby supply is momentarily
stopped, which causes the system control micro to reset back to its 'sleep'
condition, removing the 'power on' signal to the power supply. Depending on
the set, that may then be an end to it until you try to bring it out of
standby again, or it may just keep trying on its own, causing a flashing
power light.

If you can prove which board is causing the trouble, you might want to
consider just replacing that board. PSUs and inverters for many sets, can be
found astonishlingly cheap on the 'net and e-bay sometimes.

SOURCE: Philips 50 Inch Plasma Model 50PF7320A/37 will not turn on

Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
If you have some electronic experience, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for the TV over the internet for less than $20. It will have the all resource material for repairing your TV model. It's just the matter of replacing the bad part on the circuit board.

I bought my son a 19" philips tv model # 19pfl340d/ order to turn tv on it must be unplugged for 10-15 minutes. The first one I bought did the same thing and I returned it.this one is exactly the...

The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.

By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.

I used the Tv. Wednesday today is Saturday and it will not turn on i've switched outlets I've unplugged it plugged it back in.. still not working what do i do now??

Unfortunately you can bring it to a repair center or get a new unit. The TV could have had a power surge or just given up, but either way, until you identify the issue you can't determine your route of action (new unit or repair)

Model 19PFL3403D/27 having trouble powering on the TV. Even after pressing the POWER button the the side of the TV and toggling from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. It should not be this difficult just to...

The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

My Philips 19pfl3403d/f7 wont turn on without unplugging first.

just call philips and they will send you a new t.v.! it isn't a recall, that would be bad publicity!! i spoke with a philips representative yesterday concerning my 'possessed' television. a gentlemen informed me that philips has a 'rapid replacement program' for the described 'possessed' t.v. set. simply provide model and serial numbers, time and place of purchase, then provide street address for fed-ex delivery. approximate time of arrival is 10-15 days. you are directed to package and return the old set to nearest fed-ex pick up site. i am super excited that i took the time to call philips support. i think that i spent a total of 10 minutes on the telephone; it was time well spent. oh yea, here's the number!
