The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Haw to transfer imagies from camera to my laptop ?

Maria,
You should have received a USB cable, when you purchased your camera, that plugs into both your camera and your laptop. Also you should have received software with your camera that allows you to transfer the images from camera to laptop. If you did not purchase your camera new and do not have these items, you will need to purchase a "viewer", around $12.00 US, which is a small unit that accepts all sizes s of memory cards. Just plug the USB cable from the viewer to your laptop and put the memory card into the viewer and the image will appear on your screen.

SD card not transfering raw files to computer completely

Please remove the SD card from the camera. Connect the SD card to the computer using the external memory card reader and then transfer all the images in the computer or laptop. Then try to open all the images.

I have a dsc-w150 digital camera, no usb cord. how can i transfer my pictures to laptop?

You'll need a card reader to transfer the data to your PC.
These days most laptops and printer has built in card reader. But since Sony camera's use memory stick, some of them don't support memory stick. So,
  • First check whether or not your printer or laptop has memory stick support, if has then use it to transfer you images. Otherwise you've to purchase a memory card reader with memory stick read support[should be available on any nearby electronic shop].
  • Then remove your memory stick from your camera and connect it with your laptop.
  • Open the memory card and copy your images.

Sharon,

When you launched the FinePix Viewer, go to "Settings", and then move your cursor down to "Way of Saving", tick the "Make Folder" by "Date", and then click "Browse" to identify the drive partition/folder to save your photos.
After that, click the icon with the symbol of the "camera to folder" on your top right corner, to upload your photos to your computer.

I don't have the data transfer cable, is there anyway to get the images out of the built in memory.

If you don't have a cable, then the only way to transfer your images from your internal camera memory is to copy your image to your plug-in flash card via the available utility of your camera and then use this flash card in a card reader attached to your PC/Laptop.
Hope it helps.

From main menu, pick menu with wrench icon, make sure USB is set to "M" mass storage mode. In same menu there is an option for "Folders" to pick which folder to take images from, make sure this is the same as the folder where your images are. Remember that in mass storage mode you can browse the images on the camera as if they were a drive, in windows explorer. You can cut-paste images from camera drive to any folder on your computer.

I can't seem to send images from my camera via cable or infrared

Simply get a cable that fits. The camera cable should be a standard USB A for the Computer- assuming the computer has USB or is it Sony and fitted with Fire-wire in which you will need an adaptor Fire-wire to USB
