With anything labeled slim or compact in the computer world, ventilation is a common factor. When devices are so close together and limited vents, heat will occur. The fan is running to circulate air throughout the system. Sometimes you may even hear the fan increase in speed. This is a normal process based on the thermal monitors installed on your, processor, motherboard or computer case. As temp. rises, the fans may increase in speed and as it lowers, the fans will decrease in speed. If you feel that this process is not part of normal functionality of your PC, try running the following program.

http://www.almico.com/speedfan439.exe

The program is simple to use. All you have to do is intsall and run it. be sure to check the box "auto speedfan control" checked.

If you require any further assistance setting up this program, feel free to respond to this post and I will be more than happy to assist you!

Happy Computing!

There is not really an answer for this question.
your machine has fan o fans running all times to avoid the CPU from over heating and BURNING, you see how compact it is. consider this. how much heat will come from the CPU, hard drive, GPU, RAM sticks and cd/dvd drive, ahve them all working and not cooling system at all your pc will overheat in less than 20 minutes.

HP PAVILION SLIMLINE S3300N MY COMPUTER IS RUNNING HOT. THE FAN ISN'T WORKING

The fan is either burned out, not plugged in correctly, or only runs when the system needs better cooling and is under stress. If you are comfortable with the idea, turn the system off, remove all connections from the rear panel, and remove the side panel of the computer. Locate the fan that is not functional and find the power cable attached to it. Ensure that it is properly connected. If it is, the fan may be burned out. Replacing it is simple, and a replacement can be found at a store such as Best Buy or Office Depot for a low price.
If you are not comfortable with disassembling your computer, you may have to bring the tower to a local computer repair store. The disadvantage to this is that the price will probably be higher.

I have an Hp pavilion slimline s3100n pc and after a while, it just shuts off with no warning whatsoever. When I try to turn it back on, it just shuts right back off. It's like I have to wait for it to...

Verify your fans are for the CPU and case are moving. You can remove the Pc cover and turn on the Pc. Watch the cooling fan on top of your CPU heat sink, it should begin spinning when you turn on your PC. If it doesn't then with the PC unplugged, make sure the connector for the fan is seated properly. From behind the PC you should be able to feel the Power Supply cooling fan moving air. Either of these could cause your PC to over heat and shut down.

HP Pavilion Slimline s3122x powers up fan runs

Hi Im Rain.
I may have bad news for you. Its a very bad sign when your keyboard and monitor are not working at the same time. Sounds like the technician was right.
I also think its your motherboard. If you really just like the computer you can invest in another motherboard.

Won't Start

This happened to my to my HP Media center Edition PC. I'd have to unplug the power from the outlet, let it stop flashing and the power up again. It would run for a short time and then shut off with the annoying amber / blue flashing light.

I found it was a heat problem on mine - specifically, the CPU cooler. After shutting down and opening the PC, check to see 1) if the CPU fan is running smoothly and 2) if there is a lot of dust and dirt on the CPU cooling fan and heat sink (and rest of the case for that matter).

Gently clean / vacuum the insides of the case AND power supply as best you can. Carefully vac the fan blades and heat sink to clear the dirt and dust that prevents the heat from being blown away by the fans.

When complete, you might even want to take the PC outside and reverse the vacuum so that air can be blown into tight places in the case. A can og compressed air can do the job instead, too.

Reassemble and start up as normal. Good luck!

My HP Pavilion Slimline s761n shuts off randomly

Even though all fans are running you can still have an overheating of the powersupply or processor. Intermittent shutdowns are most often caused by power supply issues rather than anything else

HP Slimline desktop shuts down on it own without warning

you need to take off the fan to the cpu and blow out all the dust and dirt. removing the cover for better cooling is actually a bad thing to do.... with the cover on the fans will move air thru the computer to cool it... with no cover the air does not circulate for best cooling.
