Print Head Problems??

The ink cartridges on my Canon Pixma MP500 are leaking into each other I recently changed the print head and now the black ink has leaked into the yellow cartridge via the sponge that is in contact with the print head Is the print head the problem or the ink cartridge? I have tried cleaning the print head which helped and then after a week or so the same thing happened again. It makes a brand new ink cartridge unusable. I can't tell if it is just the yellow but when I do a nozzle check, the cyan doesn't print but the yellow does. Very confusing

I don't understand the solution. This is the second yellow cartridge I have tried with the same results. They are generic cartridges but that shouldn't matter. I am suspecting the print head to be faulty, even though it is a new print head. I am not totally sure how a print head works but it would appear that ink from the black side is seeping over to the yellow side. To complicate things it doesn't make sense that the cyan won't print and yet the yellow does. The sponge on the yellow is almost completely black. Could it be the print head needs aligning? This has been the worst printer I have ever had. Not cheap to buy and loads of problems. Is it worth fixing?

How do you replace the ink cartridges in a canon pixma mp500 printer

simply replace your existing cartridge with a newcartridge, and wait until the printer print head cleaning. You can then resume printing. When it considers more than 10 minutes to change the cartridge, you need to lift the lower back, as the scanner automatically moves from the cartridge after all this time. While the head is too hard, while removing the seals and packaging can cause ink to leak out. Do not touch the ink port or an electrical connection

My Canon Pixma mp500 won't print black for text. There is no error message. I have run through cleaning cycles, updated the driver, changed the cartridge with no results. Other colors all print fine. ...

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

My printer prints pictures fine but when i print words it dont print black ink just colors why

Black printer ink in Canon Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

Canon Pixma MP500 error

ok I figured out what to do. Open the over take out all your ink cartriages. Then flip the print head level on the left hand side up and squeeze the top of the print head (where all your ink sits on) and lift it up. You may want to blow off any dust that may be in there and put the peint head back and replace al your ink put the level down and you should be good to go if not you may have to replace the head.
