has been saying replace lamp for several weeks. Has had a small pink spot in middle of screen. Now full screen is pink. is this a lamp problem or just DOA?

The Lamp will no cause any color distortion. The "Replace Lamp" message comes up after a certain amount of hours after watching the TV because the lamp only last a certain number of hours before needing a replacement one.
It sounds like a light engine problem. There is no quick fix, you need to replace the whole light engine which is very costly (light engines usually run at least $500) and time consuming (need to take whole TV apart to replace part).
