Ok, Firefox being an application, I am somewhat confused about what you are trying to do. If your computer is connecting to the network on wireless then you shouldn't have to do anything to get Firefox to work. If your Computer is not connecting to wireless through the card it is most likely because you don't have the correct drivers for the operating system you installed. Since the computer came with Windows on it you will need to search the web for the proper drivers for your system and device.

Network cable not properly plugged in or may be broken

which OS do you have? XP, Vista, 7, etc. you must have a wireless adapter in your PC to use wireless and it must be enabled.
if not wireless, then you must have an ethernet slot with cable(CAT5) inserted from internet modem/router. if you have a laptop then you have wireless available. there is a key on keyboard to turn wireless on. you have to have your Network assigned to the wireless internet provider too. if you have cable(cat5) connected to a modem or router/modem connection, and you see an ethernet icon in your lower right corner window(looks like a little computer display), then you have an ethernet connection. if not then either the cable is bad or the modem/router is not producing a connection to pc. thats alot i know but i have little knowledge about your internet connection on your pc. you have not given that to me to use

How can i retrieve my security key or pass phrase for my msi 108M wireless router RG60SE

Plug the router into your computer with a cat5 cable (internet cable)
Open up your web browser(Internet explorer, firefox, chrome) and type this following number exactly with the dots into the address bar (usually where you see or other site names)

User Name: admin Password: admin
You should be able to find the passphrase/security key somewhere in the section titled "security"
Goodluck :)

wifi is complex. unlike simple wired Ethernet.
why not use wired first.
why jump the gun and guess, and pick the most hard and expensive fix first. when you car misfires do you replace the engine, first?
what wireless card..? on modern PC its hidden inside.
on super old PC LT its a PCMCIA card plug in
on others its a USB dongle. (there did all 3 for you)
what OS.???????????is this XP?
what router (wifi do you have?) (the box with antennas")
The router makes the DLS connection with a pass word
do all other wireless device
is Verizon your DSL service provider, really? mines ATT. land line + DSL, my line is cut in half now, for ever. (never again ATT me)
but we do not know what you have there.
nor how far the notebook is from said (unsaid) router.
the real problem here is the now RETIRED PC notebook
HP does not support it now, so getting drivers is hard.
proof of that.

here is a short check list and HPs
1: can others PC connect in your home to wifi. or from CELL?
that must be done first, to see if A: its router issues. or B: your PC.
using your wifi login credentials.

2: we make it to B its your PC for sure.
then read your manual called trouble shooting
id go to device manager first see if the wife card is there , and ok.
your wifi card is mini-pci card inside mounted to the MOBO.
first connect a CAT 5/6 cable from the ethernet port of your PC
to the router,
do you now get , internet connected, if yes good, if not the router may be configured wrong.
if yes, good
we now go to device manager, and look for the wifi module
if the module is there in DM. right click and and lit windows
plug and play find your driver. this way, using the ethernet cable.
see? (to get drivers takes a connection and ethernet is the joy of life here)
ethernet is wired connected.
if ethernet fails we work far more hard, lacking any connections
or a working PC .
again, no OS stated, is this the stinky XP? the viruse magnet.

your CARD. I bet its not bad !

v6000 mobo red arrow is ethernet. jack

v6000-ooptjg14f2uaokq3pusqdg3g-1-1.jpg if your OS is not dead, and has all the origional HP drivers
all loaded an not lost. then this magical port just works
you plug in the CAT5 cable and bam, connected. in seconds.
this is always the best way to fix computers at home.
get this wire working first, and now that you have internet working
you can do vastly more things even fix WIFI.

Need to know what i need to connect my prewired home (with cat5 cable running from box in garage to jacks in 4 rooms) to the internet. currently just have cable modem in office.

You would need a 4 - 8 port router... with a wire going to each Jack... and these would plug into the Router ports, The router plugs into the Modem. You have to put the Ethernet plugs on each end of the Cat5 cable. Then you setup your network. But if you have a wireless router you simply need each PC WiFi enabled, IE: A wireless card in each PC, that way you do NOT need Cat5. Then each PC, simply connects to the Router/Modem.

I have 2 buildings about 500 Ft apart connected with 2 conductor telephone cable, formerly used for a radio tie line. I would line to connect to the internet from the other building.

326 feet is a max run for cat5/cat5e cable. You would need a repeater for runs longer than that. Wireless will not work properly either without a singal repeater. You could look for outdoor repeaters and run a drop line to the 2 building but this will be costly

I have a desktop and a laptop (new for xmas) and I want to set up the laptop to the wireless-N Router Model WRT160N. I am set up with internet through a bundle system through our television. Do I plug the...

first a couple of things.
if your router has wireless support your laptop (if new) should have a wireless adapter built in, so basically your destop computer can be wirely plugged into the router and your laptop shoud "connect wirelessly" to your adapter
so this is how your set up should look like

--cable-- = - cablemodem - = linksys router = ----- wire----- desktop

--cable-- = - cablemodem - = linksys router = ))wireless))) laptop

you need read up a bit, here are some links that will have info you need

manual for wireless configuration (select the proper revision for your router and check user manual)

configure wireless network for vista

read up and if you have any questions post back.

hope that helps.

NEC Versa FX

The phone jack does not fit because it is an RJ45 network port. If you are using a cable modem or router for your dsl connection you should be able to connect directly with a cat5 network cable.

Or if you have a free USB port you can purchase a wireless adapter like THIS ONE and use it via the USB port.

Wireless connection works but no plug in connection

The wired nic in your laptop will have a separate ip address than your wireless nic. I suspect you either have the router not set to hand out ip addresses, the info it is handing out is wrong, or you may have a static ip set. Did you ever have the laptop working on the wired nic?

Try disabling the wireless connection, plug up the cat 5 cable, open a dos prompt and type;
ipconfig /all

Notice the information. Now unplug the cable, enable the wireless connection and do the same for the wireless nic. The ip address should be different, but everything else should be the same. Let me know what you find.
