Avh-p6400cd indash radio

I just purchased the avh-p6400cd it only came with the harness plug wires. i can not get the radio to power on. Do i need video brain and audio plugs in order to power on radio? In back of radio there are two plug in slots one is white with teeth and the other yellow with holes.i suppose that is where the video and audio plugs go with brain i suppose? But i thought it should at least power on without them

But I took radio to jots electronics inc. here in arlington texas, they repair any thing from floor model tv's to radios and they told me unit has bad connector on face mount, also broken shaft in monitor unit. parts and labor 300 plus 50 dollars for checking it i declined the 300.00 they also told that a guy brought in another avh-p6400 and they swap faces with mine and it powered up but tv just went out and back in i guess thats the broken shaff causing that but they said i did not need the brain since mine was a older model. i still have radio so any suggestions would be really appreciated. just dont want to spend 300. to fix it.

With this specific Pioneer model you need a brain for it ti function. You will be spending a good amount of money on all of the cords and brain. If you would like to do that, go to www.pioneerelectronics.com and type in your model number. every cord and accessory you will need will be listed there. This specific model has an optional navigation and tv tuner. Also for RCA outputs you will need another harness.

Also let me add on to that. Search eBay for the brain, you might be able to get one for a decent price compared to brand new. If you are going to do that first id suggest to go but the manual for the thing so you will know everything you will need.

I have a keenwood indash dvd player i want to hook my amp to it but it dont have rca jacks so how do i do it

If your indash radio does not have RCA outputs, you can do two things. You can purchase a line level converter and hook it to one of the rear speakers. This will allow you to tap into the speaker wire, then convert the signal to RCA. Then you plug your RCA cables in there. The other (my recommendation) is to purchase an "add an amp" wiring harness. This harness will install between your radio and vehicle harnesses. It will have RCA output and remote wire. Then you run those back to your amp and there you go. You can find these at the scosche or PAC websites. You can also try www.crutchfield.com

My remote (CXB9118) suddenly does not work with my unit (AVH P6400CD). Now what? Can I reset it somehow or fix a setting that I might have screwed up by accident?

did you check your battery in the remote itself if not want to go head check that replace if need be. Then your going to want reset the unit one by either pulling the harness lose for about 5 seconds plugging it back in which should intailize your remote to responds to it My names Josh

I might buy a pioneer avh p6400cd

hi there
this pioneer unit is just a CD player with a TV screen/monitor there is no DVD player in it. in order to watch a DVD you need to get the DVD player (sold separately) also its 6yrs old...it was really good in 2003 but since then there have been units that have a DVD,CD,navigation slot built in (this unit has a CD player built in only this means you cant put a DVD in the slot) if its selling for under $150 buy it if there asking over this i would wait and buy a newer system with everything just remember the DVD player for this unit is another cost so you may be paying just as much for this as you would for a newer unit........ so for me to answer your question its an OK unit and there haven't been to many problems with it except the complaints to pioneer about having to buy the DVD player separately........info for you in 2003 this avh-p6400cd sold for $499 but not to many people knew that they had to buy the units DVD player which was sold separately for $359
hope this has helped your deside

Red wire missing

the power wire goes above a blue wire or next to (white/orange) and (green) in top row if there is a space there
yellow should be above black
