Its hard to say what component got burned. It is very possible that the entire motherboard might be blown. I am not sure if there is a fuse for this model. Try searching on Google for a service manual for the dV6000

You will have to replace the motherboard as all is on board.

Are we talking the transformer (the pack you plug the laptop into and then plug into AC wall socket)? Or we talking smoke was coming from the laptop?

The transformer can be replaced. Use your favorite search engine to search for the part number for that power supply. You can find many OEM replacements including directly from Dell.

If the laptop was smoking, that could spell trouble. Once the capacitors burn out, many other components on the motherboard and expansion cards can be fried.

Unless you are a serious DIY type, I'd ask a professional technician to open it up and examine the parts.

What can i do when my hp is power on but not display hp pavilion dv 6000

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

HP Pavillion DV 6000. Turned it on and it shuts

Is heatsink connected to this problem? (sic) Most probably not, it is more than likely a simple Driver problem. Try to startup in SAFE MODE, press F8 at boot time. If this works you could run a "System Restore" back to a time before it went faulty. Or troubleshoot from safe desktop.

Problem for HP Pavilion dv 6000

download utorrent.exe and install it on your machine. then do a google search for the following torrent (actual text to do a google search with):

xp 25,000 drivers + torrent

I am not sure if this is a legal file to download, but it will have all the xp drivers for all computers just about. Furthermore, the download is about 368 MB, so have a high speed internet connection to download it.
