Question about Toshiba 27A44 27" TV
Change TV audio reception from 6.5Khz to 5.5Khz.
This was a UK TV which is now in Malaysia.
Picture is good but no audio reception because Malaysia uses 5.5 Khz as a carrier wave. The UK uses 6.5Khz.
Can I adjust the audio circuitry in the TV to accept the different frequency ?
The TV is a Toshiba colour TV, model No - 2100TB.
Thanks for your time on this for me.
Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a good New Year.
Best wishes and regards, Paul shaw.
I will speak genericaly about TV sets in general.
There is more than simple frequency involved. There is bandwidth, de-emphasis characteristics for detection, and depth of modulation.
This cannot be feasiby accomplished. The audio decoding in your set uses phase lock loop circuitry that is crystal stabelized and firmware controled. This is factory burned in to the functioning of the IF module's devices.
You can try changing the IF module to start, but there may be a conflict with the main uPC on the motherboard of the set.
When people change countries we always tell them to leave their TV behind and get one for the local broadcasts.
What you can do is get a separate tuner unit for your set, and feed it with that. This way you will be using your set as if it is a monitor. This is the most feasible and reliable solution for you.
Personaly, I would buy a local TV set, and send the old one to a friend as a gift back from where it came from.
